Too often, new faculty members tackle teaching roles at an unfamiliar campus feeling lost and completely on their own. That is not a problem at Eastern Illinois University (EIU), where a rapidly growing faculty development program reaches out to new employees to encourage and support them in all facets of their lives, professional and personal.

The lead author questioned over 500 self-identified gay, lesbian, and bisexual (GLB) fraternity and sorority members to assess their reasons for joining; how their membership affected their sexual identity development and intimate relationships; the degree of homophobia and heterosexism encountered; how sexual orientation affected the quality of their fraternal experiences; and the level of acceptance or rejection they faced. Childcare Practices In Three Asian Countries, Shamah Md-Yunus
Faculty Research and Creative Activity
Childcare practices such as feeding, toilet training, sleeping arrangement and discipline in three Asian countries (Chinese, Japan, and India) are compared. These countries differ from each other in culture, religion, language and ethnic makeup from Euro-American culture. The differences in childcare practices are broadly related to the differences in family values, traditions, and religions among these countries. Educational implications of sensitivity to cultural differences are also discussed.

College choice is a critical decision facing many high school students. Form c was developed to test the validity of the social situations for differentiation among alternative referents, which included welfare, age, ethnicity, and physical characteristics. The SAS was administered to a random sample of new freshman and transfer students …
