The object of this survey has been to give an honest, fair and unbiased statement based on the actual conditions in the schools of Todd County, Kentucky. This survey shows the improvements that have been made in the system from July 1, 1934 to the present time. This does not include the Independent Districts of Trenton, Todd County, Kentucky, which is in the southwest section of the county.

The specific aims of the study are:

  1. To survey the schools in Monroe County - the one-room rural schools, the two-teacher schools and the consolidated schools.
  2. To show the percentage of attendance and percentage of failure in different schools and the cost per pupil attending.
  3. To show the relation between teachers qualifications and teachers pay.
  4. To study the transportation system; figuring the cost per pupil per mile.
  5. To make general recommendations based on data obtained.
