A warning against some dangers, tendencies that can erode the quality and meaning of education. First, the danger of undue emphasis on science and technology. A second danger is in the rapidly growing impersonalism of higher education. A third is the danger of missing the real, though more intangible point - the development of taste, of judgment, of sensitivity. It is not enough to be free. It is a question of what you are free to do -- and what you are free not to do. What the college should provide is a climate, a fellowship in which these judgments …

The purpose of writing this teacher's manual was to provide a course of study for the junior high school Indian Seminary students living mainly in Northern climes of North America. In more recent years, a greater emphasis by the Church has been placed on preaching the Gospel to Northern Indian tribes, as evidenced by the organization of the Northern Indian Mission in 1964. With the conversion of hundreds of Lamanites, came also the need to provide religious education and character development for the children of these new converts and for the children of older Church members. The purpose of this study was to study the effects of increased teacher knowledge of students' individual characteristics on students' religious attitudes and achievement in Seminary. It was based upon the rationale that when teachers have more knowledge of each student's characteristics, they can be more effective in planning for individual needs. One result will be that students' behavior and attitudes will be affected positively because their needs are more fully satisfied and interests more effectively utilized.

A Proposed Program For Adjusting The Released-Time Seminary Program Of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints To Three Major Flexible Scheduling Programs, Wallace Dea Montague

Whenever a public school modifies its scheduling program it has a direct effect upon any released-time program affiliated with the school. This study was undertaken, therefore, to determine the adjustment necessary in the released-time seminary program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in order to make that program compatible with three major flexible scheduling programs: (1) the Period Exchange of Rotating Period Program as used in the Cedar City High School, Cedar City, Utah, (2) the Modular Schedule as typified by the Stanford School Scheduling System (SSSS) and used in Roy High School, Roy, Utah, and (3) …
