Project-based learning is an increasingly popular pedagogical approach in university education shown to be effective in fostering problem-solving, analytical, design thinking and teamwork skills. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to universities pivoting from project-based learning (PBL) in the classroom to a virtual learning environment. By examining local student consulting courses conducted virtually in a Singapore University (UNIS) during the COVID-19 pandemic, this study aims to address the knowledge gap in the PBL literature by identifying the roles played by digital literacy - in utilising the digital tools that support virtual learning, in a virtual learning environment. Helping Youth Escape Vapes: An Online Evaluation Of A Youth E-Cigarette Prevention Program, Adrienne M. Duke, Jessica Norton

Journal of Human Sciences and Extension

Electronic cigarette use during middle school and high school has become an alarming public health concern. Educating youth about the risks of using e-cigarettes through a prevention program can be instrumental in curbing the growing numbers. Our Extension team implemented a prevention program, Escape Vapes, which adapted three Stanford University Tobacco Toolkit units. This study is an evaluation of the program that 1,347 youth in grades 5 through 12 completed. Results from the online retrospective post-pretest indicate that participation in the program significantly increased knowledge about e-cigarettes. Introduction: This systematic review aims to examine the effects of the CYP1A2 −163C>A and ADORA2A 1976T>C polymorphism on physiological effects and performance relative to caffeine consumption. Material and Methods: In this study, electronic databases including PubMed, Web of Science Core Collection, Korean Journal Database, Russian Science Citation Index, SciELO Citation Index, Scopus, ScienceDirect, ProQuest Dissertations & Thesis Global and EBSCO were searched. Results: The results highlight that individuals with the TT or CT/CC genotype can have differences in caffeine consumption, and C carriers may have increases in the maximum oxygen uptake (VO₂max). Introduction: Standardized patient (SP) encounters are a pivotal part of medical student training and provide essential feedback on student performance. Optimizing the quality of SP feedback allows educators to provide students with focused comments on performance, leading to personal development and better patient care. This project hypothesis states SPs receiving feedback training have greater confidence and offer more effective feedback during student encounters.

Introduction: This study characterized yoga as a form of free-time physical activity by analyzing and evaluating the body composition of women who regularly practice yoga, and by describing the effect of yoga on their psychophysical health. Material and Methods: The study involved 94 women: 56 yoga practitioners and 38 Zumba participants. The subjects were surveyed with a questionnaire to elicit information about their socioeconomic status. Body composition was determined by bioelectrical impedance analysis. Outcomes and Impact Quarterly

Stakeholders sought to reduce the burden of preventable diabetes among adults in Utah via a “Food as Medicine” webinar series. The “Food as Medicine” webinar series sought to increase awareness of and enrollment in public diabetes programs. Evaluation results from the webinar series indicated an increase in awareness of diabetes programs and nutrition information needed to improve personal diabetes management.

Minnesota Cottage Food Industry: Insights From Extension Food Safety Education, Morrine Omolo, Regina Mcgoff, Suzanne Driessen, Katherine Brandt, Joanne Slavin, Michael Schmitt

The Journal of Extension

The cottage food industry has become a significant part of the food supply in Minnesota, most likely as a result of the growing consumer demand for locally produced, minimally processed and value-added foods. Using post-training evaluations, we characterized the cottage food producers in Minnesota and assessed the impact of our food safety course. The results showed that the producers are mostly white women (71%), producing and selling a variety of products. The learners gained knowledge to safely produce and handle homemade food products for direct sale to consumers. Majority (80%) of the learners were satisfied with the course.

Romantic love is a phenomenon of immense interest to the general public as well as to scholars in several disciplines. It is known to be present in almost all human societies and has been studied from a number of perspectives. In this integrative review, we bring together what is known about romantic love using Tinbergen’s “four questions” framework originating from evolutionary biology. Under the first question, related to mechanisms, we show that it is caused by social, psychological mate choice, genetic, neural, and endocrine mechanisms.
