Problem. The selection and admission of undergraduate students involves the admissions office in the responsibility of maintaining the delicate threefold balance of academic excellence and quality, institutional economic stability, and the provision of educational opportunity for all who wish to benefit by higher education. The purpose of this study was to investigate, compare and contrast the perceptions and expectations of second-semester freshmen in regard to several aspects of the campus environment at three church-related liberal arts colleges in western Michigan.
The review of the literature traced the origins and the development of private church-related higher education and outlined some rationale for the continuation of pluralism in American higher education. The review further indicated that church-related higher education appears to be caught in a period of self-doubt and uncertainty. Faculty Attitudes Toward The Role Of Intercollegiate Athletics In Selected Institutions Of Higher Education, William D. Neal

This study investigated the attitudes of faculty members toward the role of intercollegiate athletics in selected institutions of higher education. The perceptions of the faculty members were collected by means of a questionnaire comprised of three sections: Section 1 requested demographic data; Section 2 requested responses to forty-eight items relating to intercollegiate athletics, and Section 3 requested additional comments, A five-point Likert scale containing five response categories including strongly agree, agree, undecided, disagree, and strongly disagree was utilized in Section 2.
The forty-eight items included in the questionnaire were formulated primarily through the literature review, and from discussions with leading …
