Gone were Josh Soares, Michel Leveille and Mike Lundin, players who had a hand in leading Maine to the NCAA Frozen Four in three of the past four seasons. In addition, the Los Angeles Kings (NHL) signed 2007 Hockey East Rookie of the Year, Teddy Purcell after just one season at Maine, leaving the Black Bears without seven of their top 10 scorers from 2006-07.
