A total of 241 students at Ouachita Baptist University were named to the President's List for the spring 2015 semester. To be named to the President's List, a student must compile a 4.0 grade point average and be classified as a full-time student, with a minimum of 12 academic hours.

Ouachita Tigers Athletic Director Sharp has announced that home game tickets for the 2015 Ouachita Tigers football season are now available for purchase. There will be six home games at Cliff Harris Stadium this season, the most regular season home games in program history.

William H. “Buddy” Sutton, who served 10 years as chairman of Ouachita Baptist University’s Board of Trustees, died July 2 at age 84.
Sutton, a prominent Little Rock attorney, was a longtime friend and benefactor of Ouachita. University trustees named the W.H. Sutton School of Social Sciences in his honor in 2008. Ouachita President Rex Horne described Sutton at the time as “a rare individual who brings a blessing to whatever he touches.”

Dr. Charles Wright, professor emeritus of music and retired dean of Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts, has been named interim president of Ouachita, according to Jay Heflin, chair of the university’s Board of Trustees.
Dr. Wright will serve in the interim role following the completion of Dr. Rex Horne’s tenure as president at the end of July. Dr. Horne, who has served since 2006 as Ouachita’s 15th president, recently announced his resignation to accept the presidency of Arkansas’ Independent Colleges and Universities.

Dr. Gary Gerber, chair of Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music, has been named dean of the School of Fine Arts effective July 1. He succeeds Dr. Scott Holsclaw, who has served as dean since 2007. Dr. Holsclaw will return to full-time teaching and directing and serve as chair of the Division of Applied Arts which includes theatre arts and visual arts.
