The definition of a sorority has evolved significantly from its origins in the mid-1800s. From their beginnings as secret literary societies to their current standing as corporate networks of sisterhood, sororities have grown from groups of a handful of women to chapters of over three hundred members. The National Panhellenic Conference's outline of the formal extension process has helped structure this growth, enabling the process to meet the needs of growing collegiate Panhellenic communities and allow NPC member sororities to continue to expand the reaches of their sisterhood. Booker T. Washington provided for the masses and their economic plight in his thinking, but neglected the cultural-political theory, and the creation of a black intelligentsia. W.E.B. DuBois, on the other hand, directed attention to the intelligentsia, and cultural-political theoretics, but, in his early and most famous approach, failed to provide sufficiently for the masses. Possibly as a consequence of historical circumstances - the location of most blacks of that day in the South and the irreconcilable mores of segregation - neither developed theoretics for invating white colleges.

This is a continued study of transfer students begun by an Honors Seminar fro the Fall semester, 1969. The transfers entered Ouachita on academic probation of suspension from other schools. The study covers the years from Fall, 1966--August, 1969. It was suggested that a study be conducted to determine whether Ouachita's acceptance scale helped the probationary students achieve an acceptable grade average.

Four colleges and universities were used for comparison. Hendrix College is a Methodist college which had an enrollment of 757 during the 1965-66 school year. State College of Arkansas is a state-supported school with 3,129 students during the same year. Little Rock University is a private school which is aided by the city of Little Rock, Arkansas. In our evaluation of the curriculum of the Natural Science Division, we began by reviewing the catalogue descriptions of our courses and evaluating whether the courses meet the objectives given. To do this we divided into departments since our division is so large. Next, we wrote to Hendrix, Little Rook University, Southwestern at Memphis, and State College of Arkansas and compared their course offerings with ours. The aim of this paper is to point out the opportunities and possibilities of group psychology in helping underachievers particularly at the college level. Due to lack of available information on this topic, it was necessary first to examine group psychotherapy and underachievers separately and then to try correlating the two areas.
