The purpose of this study was twofold. In Part 1 of this study, using a quantitative, cross-sectional survey research design, the purpose was to examine the dimensionality of an instrument developed by the researcher, the Employee Disability and Military Veteran Attitudes, Awareness, and Disclosure Questionnaire (EDMVAAD) and the relationships among the three variables of interest. The concealed carrying of firearms is a polarizing subject. In general, the political left would like to see more restrictive gun laws, whereas the political right would like to see less restrictive guns laws. Research of this also seems politically biased. While one researcher will use data that show violent crime increases with more restrictive gun laws, another researcher will use logic to dictate that less guns means less violence. This case study was conducted to investigate how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the campus of a small private university in central Mississippi, where traditionally, relational community and interaction were key contributors to campus culture. Through document analysis, individual interviews with campus leaders, and focus groups consisting of members of key departments, the role of resiliency was examined during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Emerging from the data were the four thematic categories of leadership, campus culture, engagement and interaction, and challenges.
