Introduction: The increasing tendency of homemakers to have qualified to teach homemaking, but have never taught or have not taught for several years, to enter or re-enter the teaching profession has been reported for more than a decade. The importance of providing special in-service education for these teachers has been pointed out by leaders in home economics education, but little evidence in regard to the kinds of help the teachers need or desire has been reported.

The purpose of this survey was to study the effect of three sources of income on family living conditions: incomes derived from industry; from agriculture; and from a combination of industry and agriculture.
The findings of such a study may be useful in showing the needs of Tennessee homes and thus furnish a basis for home economics courses of study and for training educational and social workers to adapt their work to home and family needs.

(Conclusions) The writer has drawn the following conclusions based on this study of the buying practices of a selected group of fifty employed women: (1) Some concerted effort should be made to teach people the meaning of terms used in advertising and selling hose. (2) Appearance and serviceability seem to be important factors in buying hose, but appearance makes a stronger appeal. (3) Generally speaking, price paid does not seem to be an indication of service which can be expected.

Introduction: This study is an analysis of the expenditures of approximately 550 Tennessee families classified by age, occupation, and sex groups for clothing purchased, ready-to-wear and made-at-home, during the year 1932 - 1933. The data were collected during the time between August, 1933, and May, 1934, and referred to the year previous.
The survey method was used for this study, which is part of the Tennessee Living Study. Questionnaires were used for the recording of the data and were filled in by special workers during visits with the families. While the author of this study, did not make the form …
