Factors That Motivate Washington State Teachers To Participate In Professional Growth And Development, Dolores Adan Heisinger

Dissertations and Theses

The major focus of this study was the identification of factors that motivate teachers to participate in professional growth and development activities. Although teachers may be motivated to participate in staff development for different reasons, it was hypothesized that common factors forming an identifiable incentive profile could be found. Within the focus of the study, three primary questions were asked: (a) What are the needs, incentives or motivators that influence teachers to further their professional development? (b) What are the relative strengths of the various needs, incentives or motivators? and (c) How do the incentive structures of teachers differ based …

1993-94 Annual Report, TransForming Through Connections, Illinois Mathematics And Science Academy

Annual Reports

It is our privilege to share with you the eighth annual report of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. The 1993-94 year was a turning point for IMSA and our annual report helps to tell the story of our continued transformation from that of "school" to that of "educational laboratory/resource for the state of Illinois."

However, comments of satisfaction with the current situation may prompt one to suggest that theory and practice relationship will not be resolved, …

Administrative Evaluation : What Will It Take To Succeed?, Steven J. Cose

Graduate Research Papers

What is a leader? According to Guthrie and Reed (1991), " A leader is an individual who accepts the authoritative expectations of others to responsibly guide the activities and enhance the performance of an organization." As education changes, the leadership role is taking on new dimensions. What will it take for me to become an effective educational administrator? As I look back on my coursework, the one issue that continuously appeared was the idea of establishing a vision. The key point made in each class was that to be an effective leader, an administrator needed to develop both short and …
