The purpose of this study was to determine the theories of recruitment and compensations utilized by the Young Men's Christian Association to compare the reasons given by a selected group of volunteer leaders in the Young Men's Christian Association for their volunteer work with the opinions given by a selected group of Young Men's Christian Association program secretaries.

The present research attempts to discover a type of Buddhist curriculum which will best suit the needs and interests of the high school senior (twelfth grader) Buddhists in the United States. The present Buddhist Churches of America recommended curriculum in use covers only the pre-school through the eighth grades. There is an obvious need for a Buddhist curriculum in the important upper grades. As this proposed curriculum is directed to twelfth graders, the compilation of a curriculum for the other three grades {ninth, tenth, and eleventh) still remains to be completed.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the history and development of the curriculum of the Conservatory of Music of the University of the Pacific from 1924 to 1954, and to indicate change as they occurred. The beginning point of this study was chosen because it coincides with the move of the institution from San Jose, California, to its present location in Stockton, California.

This writer asserts a need for study of active amateur and semiprofessional theater groups in California for gaining knowledge and understanding of cultural activities taking place about the Western United States.
