We investigate trust relationships between senior business executives and their overseas partners. Drawing on the similarity-attraction paradigm, social categorization theory, and the distinction between cognition- and affect-based trust, we argue that executives trust their overseas partners differently, depending on the partners’ cultural ethnicity. In a field survey of 108 Chinese senior executives, we found that these executives have higher affect-based trust in overseas partners of the same cultural ethnicity as themselves; cognition-based trust is associated with affect-based trust differently when overseas partners are of the same or different cultural ethnicity. Abstract

In this article, I examine how 121 leading corporations in India communicate the external relevance of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs/outputs and whether these outputs vary by ownership identity (foreign, government, and family), industry affiliation (environmentally sensitive and consumer proximate), and market orientation (inward and outward). I use content analysis from corporate websites, annual reports, and CSR/Sustainability reports to create a unique database on India. Indicators include issuance of stand-alone CSR/Sustainability reports, participation in GRI, UNGC, Carbon Disclosure Project, and UN Carbon Credits reporting and auditing, social and environmental data and disclosure scores, and CSR/Sustainability awards. Informal Banking And Early International Entrepreneurs: The Case Of The Chettiars, Jayarani Tan, Wee Liang Tan

As moneylenders during nineteenth century colonial period the Chettiars were functioned as informal bankers in Asia. They began as communal entrepreneurs in their clan but grew beyond their domestic borders. Despite their smallness and resources, they were able to internationalize. This paper reports a study into their internationalization examining the manner they were able to successfully venture abroad. We found that external factors like the British protectorate and internal factors like their unique socio-cultural institutions and norms and values served as enabling factors for their internationalization. The purpose of this study is to examine professional hurt across the public services of the Commonwealth Caribbean with a view toward creating what could probably be the first body of knowledge that will offer insights into its nature and relationship with the practice of leadership.
