Doctor Chittenden, of Wisconsin, was elected forty-first president of the Association at the 1903 meeting at Asheville, North Carolina. The program included a paper on "A Plea for the Abandonment of Vulcanite for Base Plates." Doctor Chittenden was active in the National Association of Dental Examiners, advocating higher dental educational standards. He was mainly responsible for enactment of the first Wisconsin dental practice act and was president of the Wisconsin dental board for many years.
