Testing The Structural Invariance Of Affective Commitment On Unethical Pro-Organizational Behavior Across Clan And Hierarchy Organizational Culture Types, Julia A. Fulmore
Human Resource Development Theses and Dissertations
Unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB) is concerned with employees’ engagement in unethical conduct for the benefit of the organization that is immoral and/or illegal. Research findings on motivators of UPB show some contradictory findings that need to be resolved. Considering the empirical findings that clan culture discourages unethical behavior while hierarchy culture encourages unethical behavior along with the contradicting empirical findings between affective commitment and UPB based on samples with different cultures, this study sought to empirically assess the contradictory findings in the literature by testing the structural invariance of affective organizational commitment on UPB based on the two organizational of …

The Linkages Among Market Structure, Market Conduct, And Service Quality: Analysis Of The U.S. Domestic Airline Industry, Amirhossein Alamdar Yazdi
Doctoral Dissertations
As supported by the dynamic structure-conduct-performance (S-C-P) paradigm, market structure affects conduct, and conduct determines firms’ performance (Mckinsey & Company Quarterly, 2008). Several researchers have looked at the S-C-P relationship with focus on price. Boreinstein, 1990; Beutel and McBride, 1992; Kim and Singal, 1993; Morrison, 1996; Veldhuis, 2005; Peters, 2006; Zhang and Round, 2009 looked at the effect of airline mergers on fares; some others have looked at the linkage between the imposition of fees and stock values (Barone, et al., 2012), ticket prices (Henrickson & Scott, 2012; Brueckner, et al., 2015); and some examine the effects of low-cost carriers …
Three Essays On Intensive Care Unit Capacity Planning, Felipe F. Rodrigues
Three Essays On Intensive Care Unit Capacity Planning, Felipe F. Rodrigues
Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a resource-intensive, costly environment. Data gathered from patients during their stay in the ICU has traditionally been used for clinical purposes, but can have a significant impact on healthcare capacity planning and patient flow. There is a need to study how metrics collected in Canadian ICUs, such as the Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS) score and the Nine Equivalents of Nursing Manpower Use Score (NEMS) can be used to improve capacity planning decisions. Using discrete-event simulation, statistical, survival and machine learning models, I have built long- and short-term capacity planning models to help hospital …
Methods To Support The Project Selection Problem With Non-Linear Portfolio Objectives, Time Sensitive Objectives, Time Sensitive Resource Constraints, And Modeling Inadequacies, Neil C. Ranly
Theses and Dissertations
The United States Air Force relies upon information production activities to gain insight regarding uncertainties affecting important system configuration and in-mission task execution decisions. Constrained resources that prevent the fulfillment of every information production request, multiple information requestors holding different temporal-sensitive objectives, non-constant marginal value preferences, and information-product aging factors that affect the value-of-information complicate the management of these activities. This dissertation reviews project selection research related to these issues and presents novel methods to address these complications. Quantitative experimentation results demonstrate these methods’ significance.

Extant project management literature on the factors that impact the success of projects suggests that the traits, competencies and leadership style of project managers positively impact project success. Despite this understanding, the key competencies and personality traits of projects managers is an under-researched area. While some studies are available that examine whether a particular behavioural trait of the project manager improves his / her efficiency, few studies prepare a list of the key competencies/traits of successful project managers. Given this consideration, the present study aims to prepare a comprehensive list of the traits/qualities of a project manager crucial for project …
Study Of The Impact Of Team Morale On Construction Project Performance, Adrian Gerard Saldanha
Study Of The Impact Of Team Morale On Construction Project Performance, Adrian Gerard Saldanha
Dissertations and Theses
The moral of project teams is an important factor when considering the performance of project teams(Dye, 2011) (Yang, Liu, & Fellows, 2010). In research studying the performance of teams working on technology projects, it was learned that an organizational work environment that satisfies the personal and professional needs of individuals has a strong effect on team cooperation and drives team performance (Thamhain, 2004). In a study performed by the US military (Mael & Alderks, 1993), it was …
A Comparison Of Causal Inference Methods And Their Application In Big Data Analytics, Xuan Wang
A Comparison Of Causal Inference Methods And Their Application In Big Data Analytics, Xuan Wang
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
With the rise of Big Data analytics, the new field of causal inference (Pearl, 2009) has received more attention in business research fields such as Accounting (Lawrence, Minutti-Meza, & Zhang, 2011) and Marketing (Manganaris, Bhasin, Reid, & Hermiz Keith, 2010). Traditional statistics focuses on correlation which may lead to misleading conclusions because the estimates can be severely biased even when data sets are large. The objective of causal inference is to obtain estimates from observational data that are unbiased and can thus be interpreted as causal. This study provides a systematic comparison of the performance of four causal inference methods …
Examining Managerial Leadership Behavior, Perceived Proximity, And Job Satisfaction In Distributed Work Arrangements, David D. Macauley
Examining Managerial Leadership Behavior, Perceived Proximity, And Job Satisfaction In Distributed Work Arrangements, David D. Macauley
Human Resource Development Theses and Dissertations
More than 70% of all employers and managers utilize flexible or distributed work arrangements (Greenfield, 2017; World at work, 2017). Yet, it appears that few organizations are prepared to manage the relationship elements that come with a distributed workforce (Boss, 2017; Miller & Campell, 2013). Using structural equation modeling and data from 838 participants, the study examined the relationship between managerial behavior, perceived proximity, and job satisfaction within organizations that utilize distributed work. The results indicate that managerial behavior has a positive relationship with perceived proximity and employee job satisfaction and supports previous literature showing perceived proximity to be more …
Essays In Knowledge Transfer, Leonardo Mayer Kluppel
Essays In Knowledge Transfer, Leonardo Mayer Kluppel
Arts & Sciences Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation advances our understanding of when firms are able to get information from outside agents and the impact of that information on innovation. In chapter one, I set up a theoretical model that illuminates how vertical integration changes the incentives for producers to share information with suppliers. Both transaction costs and bargain ability play major roles in information sharing. One result from chapter one is that producers share less information with vertically integrated suppliers. The second chapter tests this prediction, finding robust evidence that once a supplier vertically integrates, it gains fewer spillovers from competitor producers. Finally, the last …

Industrial-Organizational Psychology Dissertations
A customer revolution caused by the popularity of internet commerce, the reliance on social media, and the globalization of the retail industry, calls for an examination of a sales model driven by transformational salespeople. This study examined potential salesperson performance drivers and a proposed moderated mediation model of salesperson performance. This study relied upon a foundation of transformational and other leadership attributes and salesperson theory-of-mind (SToM). Although the conditional indirect effects of the model were not statistically significant, transformational leadership was found to be a statistically significant predictor of sales performance (c’=.024, t=2.63, p =.0088). Several sub-components of transformational leadership …
