Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence And Servant Leadership In Banking, Curtis J. Gregory

The problem within the U.S.-based banking industry is that the focus of leadership development has been primarily on cognitive abilities, whereas interpersonal skills, such as emotional intelligence, have been neglected. Research has focused on U.S. bank failures from a risk mitigation, economic, or legislative perspective, creating a gap in research on leadership behavior. The Effect Of Different Inputs To Factor Analysis: An Example Using Service Quality In Uk Branch Banking, Joseph Coughlan, Estelle Shale, Robert Dyson

Conference papers

Factor analysis has long been used in service quality research to understand the dimensions of the construct. This research reinvestigates this construct using two different methodologies (classical test theory and item response theory) in order to assess the homogeneity of the dimensions across the methodologies in a retail branch banking sample taken from a larger network in the UK. The findings show that the two methodologies give different results. Furthermore the choice of correlation matrix to input into Confirmatory Factor Analysis may be more important than is currently thought in the literature as they give different results in this sample.

Nonparametric Event Study Tests, Arnold R. Cowan Jan 1992

Nonparametric Event Study Tests, Arnold R. Cowan

Arnold R. Cowan

This paper provides the first documentation of the power and specification of the generalized sign test, which is based on the percentage of positive abnormal returns in an estimation period. In simulations using daily stock return data, the generalized sign test is well specified with both exchange listed and Nasdaq stocks. A rank test is more powerful under ideal conditions. However, the rank test is more sensitive to increases in the length of the event window, to increases in return variance and to thin trading. The generalized sign test is a viable alternative to the rank test under these conditions.
