Differences in employee overall job satisfaction between public and private sector organizations have long been a topic of organizational academic debate. This study looks at the differences and the relationships between organizational characteristics and employee overall satisfaction between the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and the Non-State-Owned Enterprises (Non-SOEs) in Vietnam. Previous studies have been neglected the behavior of the owners who are non-members when discussing brand community (BC), even though they are substantially larger. This study purposely discuss what are the differences between the two by using model of goal directed behavior (MGB) and uses the findings as a way to recruit non-members in BC activities. This study also proposes some refinements to the original concept of MGB. Perception Of Export Barriers In A High-Tech Sector In A Less Developed Country: The Case Of Ict Smes In Malaysia, Christopher J. R. Richardson

This paper investigates which export barriers are most pressing to small and medium sized enterprises (SME) in a high-tech sector in a developing-country. It also examines whether exporters and non-exporters perceive different export barriers as being more pressing to their export development/initiation. The unit of analysis is SMEs in Malaysia’s information and communications technology (ICT) sector. The findings suggest that the high cost of exporting is the most severe problem facing firms in the sample, with cultural differences posing the least important obstacle. The present study was designed to examine the relationship between human resource management practices and turnover intention among the faculty members of private universities in Bangladesh. The prime objective of this study was to understand whether the institution’s HRM practices can influence faculty turnover decision. A total of 317 faculty members of different private universities located in Dhaka Metropolitan Area(DMA) participated in the survey and returned the questionnaire to the researchers which represented 57% response rate of the study. Productivity Spillovers From Foreign Direct Investment: What If Productivity Is No Longer A Black Box?, Tran Toan Thang

While the positive productivity spillover from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to domestic owned firms in host countries is unequivocally emphasized in theory, the empirical evidence is contradictory. This paper, based on firm level data in Vietnam (enterprise census, 2000-2005), provides more inside on that. Using time-varying stochastic frontier approach, the study decomposed the change of productivity into technical change, technical efficiency change and scale efficiency change. The evidence from estimating the spillovers in each corresponding components suggest that horizontal FDI bring negative spillovers, mainly to technical change but positive spillovers to technical efficiency. This paper aims to examine the extent of human capital (HC) reporting among top Malaysian companies and introduce an HC reporting guideline that can be used by Malaysian companies and regulator. It begins by developing the HC framework based on previous intellectual capital (IC) frameworks. This framework is then used to examine each of the top 100 Malaysian companies listed on the Bursa Malaysia in year 2008. The Effect Of Employee Engagement On Continuance And Normative Commitment To The Organization, Wai Kwan (Elaine) Lau

A positive relationship between employee engagement and affective commitment is already documented in the literature. However, we do not adequately know how engagement is associated with continuance and normative commitment. Using survey methodology we find that while engagement has a non-significant positive association with continuance commitment, it has a positive association with normative commitment. No negative association was found between engagement and continuance commitment. This study’s results support recent critiques to Allen and Meyer’s three-dimensional model of organizational commitment.

A new simple yet efficient classification algorithm named as Nested Circle Boundary (NCB) is proposed in this study. This algorithm provides features from measuring the average of the sum of boundary pixels for a number of nested circles inside the texture image. It was tested on different 91 rotated texture images for 13 texture classes using Brodatz texture database. The proposed algorithm achieves 100% accuracy when it comes to rotated texture classification. The methodology of NCB algorithm is based on two phases. Competing values are a fact of organizational life. However, there are gaps in our understanding about how these opposing beliefs hinder influence processes. This article draws on interview data to demonstrate how Irish Chief Information Officers (CIOs) are able to convince their colleagues to support new projects within their firms in the face of competing values. Focused interviews were used to explore the influence process and the competing values phenomenon, since this type of research is at an early stage and qualitative methods and analysis serve as a rich source of theory development.

This paper presents the results of an experimental study to measure professionalism for the purpose of assessing a professional development program. Soft skills such as professionalism are increasingly recognized as important, yet measuring and assessing these skills, typically best acquired experientially, has remained challenging. Following established research, we conceptualize professionalism as a construct with the dimensions of autonomy, commitment, belief in public service, self-regulation, and the use of a professional organization as a major referent.
