Studies have focused on workplace environment in relations to health and safety of workers in health industries. There is however scanty empirical research on workplace environmental factors and employee job commitment in universities. While others showed the connection between work environment and job attitude across organisations, studies on workplace environment which are conducted in the university setting seem to focus on the influence of university environment on job performance of teaching staff and not on job commitment among senior non-teaching staff.
