Fundamental Issues With Hr Auditing, Chris Andrews Jun 2017

Fundamental Issues With Hr Auditing, Chris Andrews

Dr Chris Andrews

Extract:

What entitles us to correctly call an evaluation of human resources an “HR Audit?” Professor Susan Nutley (2000) observed that ‘defining what an audit is and, conversely, what it is not’ was fraught with difficulties. Professor Alan Clardy (2004) observed that the term audit was used ‘rather indiscriminately’ in the literature so that ‘most any kind of study of human resources is considered an audit.’ Clearly, a human resource audit needs to be properly defined and separated from those activities that are not auditing. Clouding this is the auditing profession itself; for example, they widely use the term ‘review’ …

Street Cred For Hr - The Journey To Evaluating Hr Through Auditing, Chris Andrews

Dr Chris Andrews

Extract: When I first started looking at Human Resource Auditing the prevailing view was that it was good for ensuring that all of the components of a human resources program were in place and operating correctly. The problem was that it was not seen to provide a direct link between the audit results and the organisation’s overall effectiveness.

Critical Success Factors For Human Resource Audits, Chris Andrews

Dr Chris Andrews

Extract: The critical success factors for HR Auditing follow a pattern that is not specific to human resources, but is also not well understood by many human resource practitioners. Organisational Effectiveness: The Role And Benefits Of Human Resources Auditing, Chris Andrews

Dr Chris Andrews

Hr Performance Auditing: An Australian Story, Chris Andrews May 2015

Hr Performance Auditing: An Australian Story, Chris Andrews

Dr Chris Andrews

Extract: This explanatory paper covers some of the background to an Australian HR Performance Auditing Case Study (2005 – 2007). The case study was undertaken as a formal component of the 2005 Internal Audit plan for the host organisation, QUT University, located in south-east Queensland, Australia. The literature on human resource performance evaluation identified HR Auditing as an existing (but unpopular) method of evaluating human resource activities. In reality most commentators had difficulty in explaining what HR Auditing actually involved and few differentiated the topic based on an independence criterion.

Hr Standards: An Australian Story, Chris Andrews, Richard Boddington, Neil Mccormick Apr 2015

Hr Standards: An Australian Story, Chris Andrews, Richard Boddington, Neil Mccormick

Dr Chris Andrews

Extract: In this explanatory paper we describe the Australian Universities HR Standards Project, an initiative that ran from 2007 to 2011. Since the Project was completed there have been a number of initiatives in the HR standards space, each following different paths. With that in mind it is important to document the background to this project and the views of the authors on relevant issues, in particular the reasons for adopting the direction taken in formulating these HR standards.
