The Paperless Accounting Classroom: The Perceptions And Experiences Of Students In A Newly Designed Course, Steve Teeter, Susan R. Madsen, Jason Hughes, Brent Eager

Susan R. Madsen

Although financial accounting practices in business have capitalized on the use of technology, this technology has not been fully integrated in higher education for accounting students. While traditional accounting courses laboriously involve rote transcription of debits and credits, educational technology in accounting courses may prove inherently beneficial. Faculty members designed and offered a paperless accounting course that utilized a variety of technologies. This study explored student perceptions regarding the satisfaction and effectiveness of three of these technologies: 1) the Classroom Performance System (CPS) response pad (clicker) from eInstruction.com, 2) PC Tablet (teacher use); and 3) WebCT. This study analyzes the …

Public Healthcare: Changes Introduced When Implementing E-Procurement, Tommaso Federici

Federici Tommaso

The large and growing size of the healthcare public spending for goods and services worries the institutions of many European countries, including Italy, and asks for rationalization initiatives. In parallel, e-procurement solutions spread into Public Administrations (PA's) and introduce innovative processes, primarily in the purchasing phase.

In this scenario, e-procurement has the potential to enable significant efficiency improvements in the public healthcare sector, with the reduction of purchasing and administrative costs. However, most e-procurement initiatives met difficulties and did not fully delivered the expected benefits so far. This is mainly due to the healthcare procurement complexity, specific characteristics and peculiar …

Case Study Röhm Gmbh & Co. Kg - Consignment Depot Between Degussa Business Unit “Röhm“ And Basf Coatings Ag, Enrico Senger, Hubert Oesterle

Hubert Oesterle

Röhm produces special plastics, for, among others, the paint industry. In collaboration with BSAF Coatings, Röhm developed an extended Vendor Managed Inventory system that operates a consignment depot, takes on the actual and exact filling of tanks at the customer locations via telemetrics as well as advance forecasts, and passes on quality-related information to designated recipients, and includes the electronic billing of deliveries. The early access to data relevant to the planning process and process simplifications compensated for the additional operating costs. Phenotypic And Genetic Relationships Between Vocational Interests And Personality, Julie Harris, Philip Vernon, Andrew Johnson, Kerry Jang

Andrew M. Johnson

Relationships between personality and vocational interest factors were examined at the phenotypic and genetic levels. Twins and siblings (N = 516) completed self-report personality and vocational interest scales. Following factor analyses of each scale, five personality and six vocational interest factors were extracted. At the phenotypic level, correlations between personality and vocational interests ranged from zero to .33. Heritability estimates of the scales showed that genetic components accounted for 0–56% of the variance for the vocational interest factors and 44–65% for the personality factors. Genetic correlations between the two areas ranged from zero to .50. The results suggest that personality …

Global Data Synchronization – Hype Oder Lösung Für Das Überbetriebliche Produktstammdatenmanagement Zwischen Konsumgüterindustrie Und Handel?, Jan Schemm, Christine Legner, Hubert Oesterle

Hubert Oesterle

Anna Ujwary-Gil

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ocena operacyjnej efektywności w gospodarowaniu zasobami przedsiębiorstwa. Z wykorzystaniem metody VAIC™ analizie poddano kapitał fizyczny i strukturalny dwóch polskich spółek telekomunikacyjnych: Telekomunikacja Polska S.A. oraz Netia S.A. w perspektywie osiągnięć przedsiębiorstw podobnego sektora w Europie. W artykule podjęto próbę oceny metody i dyskusji nad możliwościami jej zastosowania oraz analizy materialnych i niematerialnych zasobów przedsiębiorstw.

Zastosowanie Analizy Morfologicznej Wpraktyce Biznesowej, Anna Ujwary-Gil

Anna Ujwary-Gil
