In planning for the 1984 World Exposition, Louisiana World Exposition, Inc. retained the Harrison Price Company (HPC) to prepare a report that synthesized all prior studies while incorporating new considerations that had come to light since the prior studies were completed. The report has the following sections: 1) introduction, 2) attendance planning, 3) project sizing, 4) supporting infrastructure, 5) economic parameters, and 6) executive summary. The alternatives were a modern all-weather highway, as proposed by the State Division of Highways, or a railroad. Universal City, owned by MCA Inc., encompassed some 410 acres adjacent to the Hollywood Freeway, gateway to suburban San Fernando Valley. In 1967, television and motion picture operations occupied approximately 200 acres of the total. The city, owned by MCA, Inc., includes production facilities of Universal Studios and its subsidiaries, but a large portion of the land is vacant.
