Journal of Tourism Insights

This study examines how a tourist's alcohol consumption is impacted by their choice of alcohol, drink environment, social context, and service experience. Employing the Alcohol Consumption Experience (ACE) scale, the study uses a quantitative research approach. This study attempted to gather tourists' views and perceptions on the factors that influence the alcohol consumption experience and their behavioural intention based on their experiences in Goa. A total of 962 completed questionnaires were used in the analysis. The new measurement scale, the Alcohol Consumption Experience scale (ACE) scale, contained 52 items across six dimensions: Choice of alcohol, choice of drinkscapes, social setting, …

Can Tourist Engagement Enhance Tourist Behavioural Intentions? A Combination Of Pls-Sem And Fsqca Approaches, Siamak Seyfi, S. Mostafa Rasoolimanesh, Ali Vafaei-Zadeh, Kourosh Esfandiar

Research outputs 2014 to 2021

This study aims to investigate the effects of tourist engagement dimensions on revisit and Word of Mouth (WOM) intentions of heritage tourists. The data were collected from domestic tourists in the heritage city of Kashan, Iran. To analyse the collected data, this study applies Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) as a symmetric analysis technique, as well as fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) as an asymmetric analysis approach to strengthen the findings. The findings of PLS-SEM showed the significant effect of the absorption dimension on revisit intention, whereas these results demonstrated the significant effects of the dimensions of interaction, and …

Help-Seeking For Mental Health Problems Among Older Adults With Chronic Disease: An Application Of The Theory Of Planned Behaviour, Claire Adams, Eyal Gringart, Natalie Strobel, Paul Masterman

Research outputs 2014 to 2021

Objective:

Despite high risk for mental health problems, older adults with chronic diseases underutilise mental health services. This study applied the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) to understand mental health help-seeking intentions among this population and identified factors which influence help-seeking intentions.

Method:

We conducted a cross-sectional study with a non-clinical sample of 108 older adults aged 65 years or over, living with cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, and/or type 2 diabetes. TPB variables (attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control), intentions to seek help, and additional factors (past help-seeking behaviour, quality of life, and physical health) were assessed using standardised …

Business Papers and Journal Articles

The purpose of this study is to empirically test an integrative model linking tourists’ emotional experiences, perceived overall image, satisfaction, and intention to recommend. The model was tested using data collected from domestic tourists visiting Sardinia, Italy. Results show that tourists’ emotional experiences act as antecedents of perceived overall image and satisfaction evaluations. In addition, overall image has a positive influence on tourist satisfaction and intention to recommend. The study expands current theorizations by examining the merits of emotions in tourist behavior models. From a practical perspective, the study offers important implications for destination marketers.

The Influence Of The Servicescape On Post-Consumption Processes, Daire Hooper Jan 2008

The Influence Of The Servicescape On Post-Consumption Processes, Daire Hooper

Doctoral

The physical and atmospheric cues in service environments have long been accepted as potent contributors to consumers’ overall evaluations of their service experiences. Theoretical frameworks conceptualising how these environmental cues impact on both emotional and cognitive processes have been put forward, yet the empirical work supporting these theories has become highly disjointed with a great deal of confusion regarding what should be classified as an environmental stimulus. By integrating the extant literature, this dissertation attempts to overcome theoretical ambiguities and proposes a second order factor model of service environments, also known as the servicescape, which is subsequently tested using a …
