Hardaway, The Magic, And The Orlando Media, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

It was about 4:30 on Saturday Afternoon. ABC television and the local affiliate Channel Nine was showing the Michigan-Penn State game as a footnote to the Gator loss. Then suddenly there was a Channel Nine Special Report. Had Aristide been assassinated as he arrived in Haiti or had Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait? Neither. This was a much more serious matter.

A Brief History Of The Nfl, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

The National Football League is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this season, and unlike the alleged 125th Anniversary of Baseball, this anniversary has some basis in history. First named the American Football Association and founded in 1920 by sportswriter Joseph Carr, the league changed its name to the National Football League in 1922.

The Pricing Of Water In A University Town: An Economic Analysis Of Draining A Cash Cow, Patrick Joyce, Thomas E. Merz Oct 1994

The Pricing Of Water In A University Town: An Economic Analysis Of Draining A Cash Cow, Patrick Joyce, Thomas E. Merz

College of Business Publications

This paper analyzes some economic issues involved with the common practice of using metered water rate revenue to fund debt retirement associated with the provision of municipal water and wastewater services. We conclude that rather than simply raising the metered rate, city officials should seriously consider increasing the tax rate levied under the local property tax. There is an important trade-off in the choice of a price policy. An increased property tax rate can result in tax savings to some home owners, which lowers their net expenditure for water. However, a corresponding decrease in the metered rate may increase water …

A Business Curriculum For The Commonwealth Of Independent States, Susan Coleman, James L. Narduzzi

School of Professional and Continuing Studies Faculty Publications

Eastern Europe and the former states of the Soviet Union have undergone and continue to undergo a period of dramatic transformation from centralized economies to free market systems. This has involved a shift from public to private ownership for many large state enterprises, and it has also involved the development and launch of many new business ventures. Privatization as it is called, has created a demand for American style business education, capabilities, and experiences.

Hypertext And Electronic Publishing In Nonprofit Organization, Voluntary Action And Philanthropy Studies, Roger A. Lohmann

Faculty & Staff Scholarship

Computer networking is making it possible to think about completely new ways of organizing and contributing to knowledge in scholarly disciplines. One of these new ways is hypertext, which still lacks a general model or metaphor, but which generally involves electronic links between different texts. This paper proposes an applied model of hypertext termed TESH (Traditional-Established Scholarly Hypertext). Traditionally, publishing has been viewed as a constitutive activity of scholarly communities of peers who have for more than three centuries exchange communications with one another by letter, memorandum and most importantly, through scholarly, scientific and academic journals. In TESH, an indefinite …

A Study Of Historic Development Of San Antonio's River Walk, Harrison Price Company

Harrison "Buzz" Price Papers

A draft version of a study of the historical development of the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas. Harrison Price Company (HPC) isolated factors which appear to have contributed to the success of the River Walk as well as factors that delayed success. HPC conducted a search of historical literature on key development events relating to the San Antonio River Walk. The 30-year period covered was 1962 through 1994. Profiled the hotel industry in downtown San Antonio from 1965 through 1994: chronicling the number of rooms available, occupied rooms, and average daily room rate. Developed a time line for developments …
