Nurse Supervisors And Certified Nursing Assistants: Leadership Characteristics And Job Satisfaction, Jennifer Patterson

Significant costs are associated with turnover among certified nursing assistants (CNAs) in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), and turnover impacts quality of care for residents of SNFs through disruption of care. The purpose of this study was identification of leadership characteristics of supervisors associated with job satisfaction of CNAs in SNFs. Results indicated that increased levels of trust negatively impact the job satisfaction of the CNAs, whereas increased levels of empowerment increase job satisfaction. Information technology (IT) organizations lose significant competitive value when business leaders fail to use project management maturity (PMM) processes that enhance market delivery, reduce costs, and increase profitability. This multiple-case study involved 20 project leaders that used successful strategies to improve PMM. Thematic analysis and cross-case analysis revealed 6 strategies to improve PMM processes, which are (a) Project leader development, (b) customer focus, (c) standard methodology, (d) interactive communication, (e) organizational structure, and (f) continuous process improvement.

A series of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) interventions and enforcement actions against pharmaceutical manufacturers in the past 5-6 years led to medicine shortages in the United States.

• The manufacturing shortfalls made essential medicines unavailable for the treatment of patients.

• Manufacturing shortfalls implied that quality management and manufacturing systems were not empowered or adequately staffed to support the critical functions of the pharmaceutical firms.

Labor forces continue to decrease in the United States. If the ship repair industry’s leadership does not incorporate knowledge sharing and innovation into business practices, knowledge will be lost resulting in decreasing performance. This was a study to determine if there was a correlation between knowledge management, innovation, and firm performance. Knowledge was found as more influential than innovation in predicting firm performance.

This multiple case study using census sampling was to explore motivational strategies three hotel general managers used for enhancing employee performance in South Florida. The findings revealed that recognition and guest satisfaction unveiled a positive effect on employee performances and community engagement gave employees reasons to perform well.

Fabricated metals manufacturing employment in the U.S. declined after the 2008 recession. Within a complex adaptive systems framework, this study compared job loss patters and workforce composition for two geographic regions. Statistically significant differences in post-recession recovery patterns and workforce demographics pointed to targeted economic incentive developments for regional manufacturing sectors.

Depending on their needs for enhancing and sustaining their business and market values, some firms choose to operate with a corporate governance structure of CEO duality, in which an executive serves as the CEO and the chairperson of the board of directors. Researchers have examined the multiple dimensions of unemployment. Performance rates had declined significantly in a majority of CR 5 states in the 3-year period, 2007-2009. What was not known, however, was the effectiveness of the public administration practice in individual state employment agencies when addressing the economic crisis and rising unemployment. In this evaluative study, the effectiveness of each of 10 state employment agencies in the Central Region 5 of the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration was investigated.

This quantitative correlational study was focused on how consumers’ perceptions affect their intention to use mobile banking in the United States. Among U.S. consumers with smartphones, Internet access, and a bank account; 68% used Internet, 33% used telephone-based banking, and only 21% engaged in some type of mobile banking activities in 2011. The web-based survey used in this study was derived from the technology acceptance model extended by the innovation diffusion theory. A qualitative multiple-case study about strategies needed to align financial strategy with customer oriented practices. Interview data from 30 personnel of 2 retail businesses were coded and analyzed. Emerging themes included planning, customer supremacy, viability, and clarity. In an experimental quantitative research design, data from the Futures Market for commodities and foreign exchange futures covering 1986-2011 were obtained and addressed. A General Regression Neural Network was overlaid on this data to deduce a time-series prediction model for wheat prices. Performance prediction error was only 4.42%.
