This report is the result of an organizational internship (June 6, 2011-September 30, 2011) at Root Division, a visual art nonprofit located in San Francisco, CA. The nature of the internship required work in many facets of the organization allowing a full analysis of the organization’s operations, funding streams, and goals for the future. As an administrative intern at Dance Exchange in Takoma Park, MD I had the opportunity to study this organization in a transitional phase following the departure of its founder Liz Lerman. I worked with Dance Exchange from September 6th, 2012 to December 16th, 2012. The following internship report documents my marketing internship with the New Orleans Ballet Association in the summer of 2011. Incorporated in 1969, NOBA is one of the few organizations in the Central Gulf region dedicated solely to dance. Analyzing Earnings Management For Cross-Listed Firms And Interaction Between Two Futures Exchanges, Chia-Sheng Chen

The first essay examines the impact of investor protection, market monitoring, and liquidity on the firm-level and country-level earnings management using a sample of 432 firms from 34 countries cross-listed in the U.S. The major findings are as follows: First, cross-listed firms from countries with strong legal system, strong outside investor rights, more institutional investors, and higher financial transparency are less likely to engage in earnings management. In addition, in countries with strong investor protection or market monitoring, the level of earnings management is more pronounced for illiquid firms as compared to liquid firms. Industry white papers are increasingly being used to explain the philosophy and operation of a product in marketplace or technology context. This explanation is used by senior managers for strategic planning in an organization. This research explores the effectiveness of white papers and strategies for managers to learn about technologies using white papers.
