This paper examines whether ERP systems contribute to enterprise value. An ERP Value Relevance Model is developed and tested with data from 60 matched pairs of ERP–adopter/ non–adopter firms. Two classes of tests are designed: performance relevance and value relevance. Tests of performance relevance show ERP–adopter firms do not achieve significant positive abnormal earnings until year four of the five–year test period. Tests of value relevance show the market responds significantly to ERP adoption in year two only. This early response in the year following the year of adoption suggests a significant early market expectation of these systems. However, this …

The objective of our paper is to identify factors and develop constructs that could be used to develop a conceptual Total Quality Management (TQM) model that is applicable to small and medium scale manufacturers in the United States. The data for this study was collected from a mail survey targeted to managers in the manufacturing plants. Responses were analyzed and factor analysis was used to develop measurement instruments.

Transformational leadership is an organizational leadership theory centered around "the ability to inspire and motivate followers to achieve results greater than originally planned and for internal reward" The investigation into transformational leadership began in the mid-1980s with a number of influential publications by Bass (1985), Bennis and Nanus (1985), Kouzes and Posner (1987) and Tichy and Devanna (1986). In the 1980s, the study of transformational leadership was focused on case-based research (Conger, 1999). By late 1990s, a substantial body of empirical investigations on transformational leadership had been conducted.

Human beings are by nature sociocultural creatures. Our behavior is influenced not only by traditional value systems but also by contemporary education and training. In the same manner, the managerial practices of Korean managers are strongly influenced by the norms and value systems of the traditional Korean society. But, as the society changes from an agrarian society to an industrialized one, so does the behavior of Korean managers. This chapter focuses on the process of this change. More specifically, it will look at the effects of traditional value systems and those of industrialization on Korean managerial practices.

The issued certifications are mutually recognized between the signatories of the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement. The key element in any form of mutual relationships is trust. We investigate the economic ramifications of strategic IT security information sharing among firms in the financial services industry. An IT security information sharing system can potentially minimize security breaches. However, although the Presidential Decision Directive/NSC-63 encouraged the establishment of such a system in the form of industry based information sharing and analysis centers (ISACs), it is injudicious to assume that firms will be willing to naively share their security information with their strategic competitors. This research-in-progress paper explores the role participation in Open Source Software (OSS) projects has on the time between releases to begin to empirically test if "release early, release often" (Raymond, 1999) holds true in a practical sense. A model examining the effect that the number of project forum posts, as a proxy for participation, has on the average time between releases for that project. This article illustrates how the hermeneutic analysis of text illuminates how shared understandings affect our interpretations of lean communication in distributed work environments. It is proposed that in contrast to the pessimistic conclusions of media richness theory that lean communication channels cannot support complex or equivocal work tasks, miscommunications are not the result of technology, but rather occur due to a lack of shared understandings among the individuals communicating. Information technology has transformed how travelers interact with travel service providers. Due to fierce competition in the online air travel industry, e-ticketing services have focused attention on fostering customer loyalty. This is an important strategy because, in general, initial transactions with new customers are less profitable than transactions with existing customers. Drawing on research on customer loyalty, switching costs, and trust, this study develops, and proposes an empirical test, for a model incorporating trust as a moderator of the relationship between switching costs and online customer loyalty.
