Interest Domination As A Framework For Exploring Channel Changes In Transitional Economies, Debra Dahab, James W. Gentry, Ravipreet S. Sohi

Changes in political and economic power can affect channel structures and decisions. Western channel models may not be useful for understanding the process of change in Central and East European transforming economies. This discussion suggests that channels in transforming economies may be controlled by groups or networks of people with mutual interests, a phenomenon the authors call interest domination. The article examines interest domination by managers, Communist cadres, and other party elite in two transforming economies and describes how structural and behavioral components of command economies might be conducive to interest domination of marketing channels. Thailand's economy seems generally strong but faces some important challenges in the medium to long term. The Thai way has produced a confident and dynamic private sector, despite numerous coup and government transitions, but the lack of central planning may cause the problems such as traffic, income distribution.

This research project examined the structure of Thai economy from the past which has helped Thailand in the global economy. The research also discussed the future of Thailand by interviewing the business people, professors, columnists, and Thai people about their opinion on Thai economy.

Based on an in-depth study of U.S.-China joint ventures, this article offers some insights into the performance of such international business relationships. While the conventional literature treats government as an amorphous aspea of the political-legal environment, in this case government is an active participant and influence in the performance of international joint ventures (UVs). It has both a constraining and enabling effect on LJV structure, strategy, and performance. For example, limits can be placed on ownership shares of joint ventures and on prices of the output. [Introduction To] Transnational Marriages In The Steel Industry: Experience And Lessons For Global Business, Kim Sae-Young, Garth L. Mangum, Stephen Tallman

Drawing upon case studies of firms in the steel industry, the authors show that companies competing internationally can pool their strengths to offset their individual weaknesses, enabling them to build economically successful entities more easily than if each company tried to go it alone in competition with rivals. In doing so they show how the world steel industry emerged into a group of international joint ventures and how in each of these transnational marriages the whole became greater than the sum of its parts. Methods. The literature review would be done with the help of a questionnaire that had three different sections and with an interview with the president of A&W Mr. Feltenstein.
