A Mixed-Methods (Quantitative-Qualitative) Study To Identify The Perceived Level Of, Zeky Zardo

Dissertations

Different approaches to developing leaders have been established through various forms of self-assessment, action learning, and education and training activities (Smither et al., 2005). The existing body of research on the impact and success of college and university leadership development programs focuses heavily on undergraduate leadership programs and not graduate-level programs such as the Master of Business Administration (MBA) or the doctorate. The purpose of this mixed-methods (quantitative–qualitative) study was to identify the perceived level of transformational leadership skill development by students enrolled in a doctoral program in organizational leadership. In addition, it was the purpose of this study to …

Mne Ownership, Subsidiary Performance, And Economic Liberalization, Min Zhang Jul 2015

Mne Ownership, Subsidiary Performance, And Economic Liberalization, Min Zhang

Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

A foreign subsidiary’s performance depends on its ability to manage the institutional context of its resource decisions. In response to the evolving institutional contexts facilitated by economic liberalization, MNEs have dramatically increased their ownership levels in their FDIs in some emerging economies. Nevertheless, the international business field has yet to sufficiently understand the consequent performance of those FDIs with increasingly higher MNE ownership levels. To address this gap, this dissertation is guided by three research questions. First, how does economic liberalization influence an MNE’s ownership choice in an emerging economy? Second, how does economic liberalization change the relationship between an …

Corruption: Case Studies Of Vietnam And Italy, Thuy-Tien T. Vo Jun 2015

Corruption: Case Studies Of Vietnam And Italy, Thuy-Tien T. Vo

Global Honors Theses

Corruption is morally and legally wrong. Despite many governmental policies and strategies designed to combat corruption, it still persists in most parts of the world. To understand why corruption is so persistent and pervasive, it is necessary to recognize the perceptions of the beneficiaries and victims of the issue and to comprehend the extent to which cultural biases influence individuals’ decisions to give in to corruption. Acquiescence to dishonest and fraudulent behavior can foster political corruption in many countries. Vietnam and Italy were selected as case studies for this paper. Using the case studies of these two different countries will …

Long-Term U.S. Cross-Border Security Flows With Developed And Emerging Market Countries Surrounding The Global Financial Crisis, Caitlin Tongco

Honors College Theses

This paper analyzes the impact of the global financial crisis on cross-border long-term security flows from and towards the U.S. We are investigating monthly observations from 72 countries over the period from 2003 to 2013. The findings show that the global financial crisis impacted all cross-border capital flows in our analysis; yet, the timing, the significance, and the nature of the impact varies among the different securities, as well as between a sample of developed and emerging market countries. We find evidence for a flight-to-safety with the start of the global financial crisis, with a significant, but short lived interruption …

Buy American: An Introspective Look Into National Corporate Consciousness, Jenna S. Florence Apr 2015

Buy American: An Introspective Look Into National Corporate Consciousness, Jenna S. Florence

Honors College Theses

My research is interested in examining product perceptions and the importance of national identity on the marketability on a variety of foreign and domestic consumer products. I am also interested in determining whether the process of globalization has weakened an individual’s sense of national identity and whether that changes their preference for purchasing a foreign and/or domestic product. Primarily, my research question asks whether nationalism influences a product’s marketability. My hypothesis suggests that individual perceptions are heavily influenced by a sense of nationalism and ultimately affects an individual’s decision whether or not to buy a foreign good. To test this …

Con este trabajo realizado durante el año 2014 se logró la identificación de los organismos reguladores …

Models Of Faith: The Role Of Faith-Based Organizations In International Development, Mara Hochberg-Miller

Faith-based organizations make up a large percentage of organizations doing development work both domestically and internationally. Faith-based development organizations (FBDOs) can be successful because they have spiritual drive to work for the social good, and large religious organizations to support them. However, not all FBDOs practice good development, and in the past many of them have undertaken development projects that proved to be damaging and detrimental to the host communities. The purpose of this research is to explore how different FBDOs conceptualize and operationalize their faith while doing development work abroad. Through exploring different models of faith-based development and analyzing …
