Sabbatical Leave Proposal And Report, Bruce Henrickson May 2003

Sabbatical Leave Proposal And Report, Bruce Henrickson

Sabbaticals

I plan to visit other colleges, agriculture businesses, and various other agriculture entities to help update my knowledge and learn about their contribution to the agriculture industry. I have found my schedule of responsibilities at Parkland has kept me so busy that it has been very difficult to adequately keep up to date in our fast changing industry. This leave would allow me to greatly improve my knowledge base for teaching and ultimately my future students will have a better opportunity to learn.

Corporate Social Responsibility Reputation Effects On Mba Job Choice, David B. Montgomery, Catherine A. Ramus May 2003

Corporate Social Responsibility Reputation Effects On Mba Job Choice, David B. Montgomery, Catherine A. Ramus

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

In a preliminary study with 279 MBA’s from two European and three North American business schools we find that reputation-related attributes of caring about employees, environmental sustainability, community/ stakeholder relations, and ethical products and services are important in job choice decisions. We use an adaptive conjoint analysis survey tool to discover the relative weighting of a new set of social responsibility job search criteria, including these attributes with traditional job search criteria like financial package, geographical location, etc. In addition, our results show that more than ninety percent of the MBAs in the sample were willing to forgo financial benefits …

Annual Report 2002-2003, Imsa Fund Jan 2003

Annual Report 2002-2003, Imsa Fund

IMSA Fund Reports

Reeling from an unprecedented eleventh-hour $2.5 million reduction to its state-appropriated operating budget for fiscal year 03, IMSA began the 2002-03 year by making the difficult decisions required. The Board of Trustees cut staff positions, cut the salaries of all remaining employees, increased student fees by 43%, accessed temporary or one-time revenue sources, and reduced programs and services for IMSA students, Illinois educators and other Illinois students.

In the aftermath of the reduction, the IMSA community rallied, choosing once again to stand up and be trailblazers, acting to preserve the academic integrity and distinctiveness of its remaining internal and statewide …

University Technology Transfer And Economic Development: Proposed Cooperative Economic Development Agreements Under The Bayh Dole Act, Clovia Hamilton

Winthrop Faculty and Staff Publications

Technology transfer enables private industry and academia to make practical use of advanced research, development, and technical expertise. Indeed, universities are a rich source of science and technology that can support local government and business development as well as economic growth. Thus, it is essential for research universities to transfer their wisdom to the public for its use and benefit. Today, universities operate in an economic climate that requires both capital and knowledge; takes advantage of government technology initiatives (namely the Bayh- Dole Act);' and serves as a catalyst for the creation of a large number of new, incubated companies. …

Analyzing E.M.B.A. Student Feedback, Ernest A. Capozzoli, David E. Gundersen Jan 2003

Analyzing E.M.B.A. Student Feedback, Ernest A. Capozzoli, David E. Gundersen

Faculty Publications

The results of an executive Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program assessment are analyzed and interpreted against the backdrop of increasing competition between universities to attract and retain qualified students. The public education environment is currently in a turbulent state. This turbulence is in part caused by such factors as: reductions in public funding for higher education due to constrained state budgets, student expectations, requirements imposed by accrediting bodies, and other outside constituencies requesting more accountability. The pressure to hold education institutions accountable is increasing at a rapid rate. To provide a measure of accountability and quantify program quality, education …

Experimental Energy Performance Of Open Cooling Towers Used Under Low And Variable Approach Conditions For Indirect Evaporative Cooling Of Buildings, Ben Costelloe, Donal Finn Jan 2003

Experimental Energy Performance Of Open Cooling Towers Used Under Low And Variable Approach Conditions For Indirect Evaporative Cooling Of Buildings, Ben Costelloe, Donal Finn

Articles

The success of chilled ceilings and displacement ventilation systems as a means of sensible cooling in buildings has prompted a review of evaporative cooling technology as an effective means of generating the required cooling water. When such cooling water is generated at low approach conditions (2–5 K), at the higher temperatures required in these systems (14–18°C), very high levels of availability result. In many north western European locations the levels of availability are such that the prospect of supplanting rather than simply supplementing the refrigeration system, for sensible cooling purposes, arises. The viability of the technique, however, largely depends on …
