Relacion Entre Algunas Obras En Prosa De Valle-Inclan Y Algunas De D'Annunzio, Maria Ernesta Marchesi

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

Santiago Arguello, Modernista Nicaraguense, 1872-1940, Mila Anne Harmeling

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

A Survey Of The English Language In The Philippines And The Various Filipino Dialects And The Development Of Tagalog As A National Language, Vidal Serrano Mata Jan 1950

A Survey Of The English Language In The Philippines And The Various Filipino Dialects And The Development Of Tagalog As A National Language, Vidal Serrano Mata

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

This Master Thesis aims to discuss the language mix-up in the Philippines. Originally, the people speak different dialects because of the lack of interaction due to geographical isolation. The Spaniards brought Spanish to them, which became the official language of the government until the Americans came and made English the medium of instruction in the school.

The trouble lies in the fact that English-speaking-and-loving Filipinos want English only, Spanish-speaking-and-loving Filipinos want Spanish only, Tagalog-speaking-and-loving Filipinos want Tagalog only while non-Tagalog-speaking Filipinos are either indifferent or prefer their respective dialects. This is the uncomfortable mess created by the principles of democracy …

Bolivar : A Biographical Play In Eight Scenes, Arthur Randolph Farey Jan 1939

Bolivar : A Biographical Play In Eight Scenes, Arthur Randolph Farey

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The story of "El Libertador", Simon Bolivar, greatest figure of South American history, may be pursued through seemingly endless sources of extant written material. The Bibliography of Simon Bolivar compiled by the library of the Pan-American Union is, in itself, an extensive volume; hundreds of his letters and documents have been preserved, and his biographers are numbered by scores. Throughout the nineteenth century he remained one of the most popularized of new world figures, and although he has lost considerable identity in the United States during the twentieth century, he continues to be written about. Man Of Glory by D. …

The Modern Spanish Theatre : With Particular Emphasis Upon The Works Of Jacinto Benavente, Eunice Vivian Fitch Jan 1936

The Modern Spanish Theatre : With Particular Emphasis Upon The Works Of Jacinto Benavente, Eunice Vivian Fitch

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The great literary movements affected Spanish drama less than that of any other country, though romanticism drew the public and stage closer. Realism and naturalism were slow in developing due to the "manifest incompatibility existing between the very spirit of the French realists and the Spanish national dramatic ideals."2 Spanish national drama deals in elemental passions, is poetic in situations, and magnificently conventional in tone; while its literary form is more important than its dramatic structure.2 French literature contains fine and subtle psychology, witty and ingenious, but is sometimes a little unsubstantial. Not universal theme but complex and …

Tipos Y Costumbres Satirizados En Los Sueños De Quevedo, Mary G. Phillips Jan 1936

Tipos Y Costumbres Satirizados En Los Sueños De Quevedo, Mary G. Phillips

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
