What Does Recent Research Say About The Level Of Education Of Adventist Church Leaders?, Galina Stele

Adventist Human-Subject Researchers Association

the Seventh-day Adventist Church is a global Church with 13 divisions and four attached fields. A growing number of unions and conferences makes the need for competent leadership obvious. Leadership is important for the success of any organization, and it is even more crucial for the Church that fulfills the Great Commission to bring the message about Jesus' saving power and His second coming to the world. But what is the level of education of church administrators in the Adventist Church? How well are they educated? And in what areas and institutions did they receive their education?

Divine Attachment: A Canonical Model For Discipleship And Religious Education, Kristina Marie Freed Jan 2023

Divine Attachment: A Canonical Model For Discipleship And Religious Education, Kristina Marie Freed

Dissertations

Problem

Christianity is in decline in the United States and, with it, discipleship engagement. While several explanations and many remedies have been offered as solutions to the problem over the last half-century, demographic research shows that the decline continues. The problem addressed in this dissertation is the lack of a theological model to augment psychological models of religious attachment theory. The research sought to identify a canonical model of divine attachment which may contribute to the revitalization of personal discipleship and religious education by offering a new relational context. This model is based on an understanding of God as an …

Today we are witnessing a global epidemic of rapidly spreading mental health problems among all age groups. However, a growing mental health crisis among youth is of particular concern. According to the World Health Organization, “1 in every eight people in the world live with a mental disorder.”1 The informative data are more than impressive. For many reasons, the accurate picture of various mental health disorders is much more widespread than the latest accessible information indicates. The fundamental question revolves not only around the mental health challenges of the afflicted but especially around its practical aspect: How can ordinary people …

Healing A Broken Spirit, David Sedlacek, Beverly Sedlacek

Faculty Publications

Abuse of any kind as well as significant losses such as death of a loved one can result in a broken spirit (Proverbs 15:13, 17:22). However, we have a wonderful God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Isaiah 51:3). He often leads us into communities where we can experience being seen, soothed, safe, and secure. This chapter describes the experience of brokenness and the process of healing integrating both biblical and interpersonal neurobiological perspectives.

Leading Our Children To Christ: Christian Education And Discipleship, Scott R. Ward

Some pastors are already involved in supporting the schools run by their church, but my prayer is that every pastor will feel energized and equipped to get on campus, partner with our educators and parents, participate in leading outreach with our children, and help make our schools centers of influence in their communities, places where people can come together to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I believe that when our children become involved in such vibrant, gospel-oriented schools, they will be inspired to become and remain active followers of Jesus.

Sowing And Reaping: Dynamics Of David’S Family, Anna Galeniece Jan 2022

Sowing And Reaping: Dynamics Of David’S Family, Anna Galeniece

Faculty Publications

David sowed the poisonous seeds of sin and self-destruction. Consequently, he reaped what he had sowed, and it was bitter reaping, mirrored in the atrocities that visited his family through the dysfunctional behavior of his children. The anger, rape, murder, conspiracy, intrigues, and hostility present a somber warning of how sexual sins can destroy the family’s fabric and mess up the lives of children and those with whom they associate, and consequently affect the future generation. The hope that is still available to them is through a new identity in Christ.

A Three-Story Approach To Teaching Scripture, Scott R. Ward

As we interact with youmg people, we must remember that as Christian educators, our primary goal is to help them find their place in the story of God. We must show them where they appear and how choosing Jesus can change their lives. Then we must show them where they fit into the community of believers and provide opportunities for them to “live” their stories in mission and outreach opportunities in the world around them. We must play our part by being ready daily to share how our devotional times with Jesus each day are impacting our lives and decisions …

Its initial vision was to provide limited funding for Adventist education for these children. As the ministry has evolved, its mission and vision have expanded to include other forms of support for seminary student families that includes resourcing, counseling, parents’ night out, and other new ventures such as a children’s author program.
