Autobiography of Peter Vertrees, an African-American native of Edmonson County, Kentucky, who served as a cook in the Confederate Army, 6th Kentucky Cavalry. Afterward, he was an educator and Baptist minister, chiefly in Sumner County, Tennessee. Includes associated biographical data, and the autobiography of his third wife Diora.
