This thesis will address the importance of leadership and representation for women of color in the Black community, focusing on key areas of hair and colorism. The impact of representation and access has a substantially profound effect on the daily lives and health of Black women. I will use my own personal experiences as an African American female, to emphasize why the importance of representation is so vital.
