Arendt redefines the meaning of ethics and politics in a post-metaphysical theoretical key, disrupting both teleological and prescriptive ties that have traditionally bound Western philosophical thinking about political action and ethical behavior. In this project, Arendt stresses the mode of being of subversive exemplarity, i.e., the capacity to publicly appear as resistant against political violence, even when this appearance is merely passive and silently.
