This article describes how examining translations of translations can provide a useful pedagogical tool in translation courses and classes with translated texts. Those who teach literary works that have been translated into English must deal with the reality that students read translated texts as if they had been written in English. Acknowledgment of the source for a translation is therefore important, and professors should alert students to the problems that can arise when translations are made from translations rather than from originals. Examining examples of “doubling back”―translations of translations―can also be instructive in teaching about literary interests and influences.

Does translation have a place in the modern language or literature classroom? This article argues that as long as translation is recognized as a distinct skill rather than a path to language acquisition it can and should play a role in language instruction. Discusses a new Spanish program for heritage language speakers at Peace College in North Carolina. While most programs designed for native speakers have been implemented in large institutions near a strong Hispanic community, the efforts at Peace College show how a program can be effectively developed even in a small women's college with a relatively new heritage population.

This collected volume on English language teaching (ELT) in India contains 22 articles written by Indian teachers and researchers. The book has been divided into six sections. Communication Strategies And Psychological Processes In Interlanguage Written Discourse, B Kumaravadivelu
Faculty Publications
Several papers have appeared on the strategies of communication used by L2 learners. However, very little work has been done to determine the underlying psychological processes that generate communication strategies (CS). This paper assumes that any description of CS should be based on a description of the processes governing CS. The paper attempts to correlate CS with psychological processes by analyzing interlanguage (IL) written discourse produced by advanced Tamil learners of English as a Second Language.
