This article describes an art installation in Athy, Co. Kildare created by transition year students of Athy College to commemorate their school’s connection with the centenary of the casting of the first Garda station plaques in 1922 in the Duthie. Large Foundry, Chapel Street Athy. The installation was unveiled on 14 May 2022 on the original foundry site supported by a grant from Kildare County Council’s Decade of Commemorations and mentored by staff of Technological University Dublin. Mary Ogle married Captain John Broughton of Maidstone, Kent in 1720 and their daughter Mary was born in Jersey in 1724. She was an heiress and married Edward Donovan, Barrister at Law, of Ballymore, Co. Wexford and 24, Peter Street, Dublin in 1747. They had 21 children, sixteen lived and five died unbaptized. Perhaps, some of her daughters wrote down some of the recipes, as the family would have employed cooks down through the generations.

Their eldest son Richard inherited Ballymore Estate and married Anne Richards, daughter of Goddard Richards at Grange, Co. Wexford. There is little known about her …

This menu for lunch on the 14th. April 1912 is the day before the ship sank (15th. April 1912). The Titanic was considered the largest ship afloat at the time and was built in the Harland and Wolff Shipyard in Belfast. The ship left Southampton (England) on the 10th. of April. On the 14th. April, 1912 four days into the crossing and about 375 miles south of Newfoundland, she hit an iceberg at 11.40pm ship's time.
