Who Pays And Who Benefits: 21st Century Tax Reform For Maine, University Of Maine
General University of Maine Publications
This paper discussed three major issues, with the goal of clarifying the characteristics of LD 1495, the tax reform package that will be either upheld or repealed in June: 1) the features of “good” state tax systems; 2) the characteristics and limitations of Maine’s current tax system, and 3) the features, changes and implications of the new law. Finally, a range of taxation policy recommendations were discussed.

What's Race Got To Do With It?: A Historical Inquiry Into The Impact Of Color-Blind Reform On Racial Inequality In America's Public Schools, Lillian Dowdell Drakeford
What's Race Got To Do With It?: A Historical Inquiry Into The Impact Of Color-Blind Reform On Racial Inequality In America's Public Schools, Lillian Dowdell Drakeford
Antioch University Full-Text Dissertations & Theses
This dissertation examines the history and impact of color-blind educational reform in the post-Brown era on racial inequality of educational opportunities and outcomes in America's public schools. Through the lens of critical race theory and race critical theory, the dissertation employs a dual analysis. A macro analysis of the evolution and impact of colorblind educational reform on the national level is juxtaposed with a micro, case-study analysis of the history of color-blind educational reform at a historically Black high school. The historical analysis of the relationship between race and education encompasses intellectual and social aspects of education in the U.S. …

Primary Source Use In High School History Classrooms: Categories, Frequency, And Assessment, Michaela Goblirsch
Honors Program Theses
Throughout this thesis project, I will research the many various forms of primary sources as well as a variety of assessment styles. By reviewing literature and analyzing results from a survey of high school history teachers, I will discover the manner and scope in which primary sources are used in history classes. Also, I hope to determine which primary sources students respond best to, taking into account their age and gender. Teachers will be able to use this information to construct more engaging and challenging lesson plans featuring primary sources. Knowing which types of primary sources are most effective for …

“Knowledge In The Service Of The Cause”:Education And The Sahrawi Struggle For Self-Determination, Randa Farah
“Knowledge In The Service Of The Cause”:Education And The Sahrawi Struggle For Self-Determination, Randa Farah
Randa R Farah Dr.
This article examines the education strategy of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), the state-in-exile with partial sovereignty on “borrowed territory” in Algeria. The article, which opens with a historical glance at the conflict, argues that SADR’s education program not only succeeded in fostering self-reliance by developing skilled human resources, but was forward looking, using education as a vehicle to instill “new traditions of citizenship” and a new imagined national community, in preparation for future repatriation. In managing refugee camps as provinces of a state, the boundaries between the “refugee” as status and the “citizen” as a political identity were …

A Critical Race Analysis Of The Hiring Process For Head Coaches In Ncaa College Football, Keith Harrison
A Critical Race Analysis Of The Hiring Process For Head Coaches In Ncaa College Football, Keith Harrison
Dr. C. Keith Harrison
In this article, we respond to Singer’s (2005) challenge to sport management scholars to consider race-based epistemologies in conducting certain kinds of research in the field, as we use critical race theory (CRT) as a framework to analyze the Black Coaches & Administrators (BCA) Hiring Report Card (HRC) (Harrison & Yee, 2009). The BCA HRC was created as a result of the access discrimination that has historically taken place in college sport (Brooks & Althouse, 2000; Cunningham & Sagas, 2005), which has consequently contributed to the underrepresentation of racial minorities in the head coach position in college football. The HRC …
XXI

Direito, Utopia E Insularidade, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Virtude Da Constituição E Virtudes Republicanas, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Virtude Da Constituição E Virtudes Republicanas, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha

Instituições, Trabalho E Pessoas, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
