Arts & Literature: Voices Of Kurdish Women Survivors: Healing Through Wounds Of Genocide, Sarwa Azeez
Arts & Literature: Voices Of Kurdish Women Survivors: Healing Through Wounds Of Genocide, Sarwa Azeez
Genocide Studies and Prevention: An International Journal
The Kurdish genocide tragically stole a generation, yet little attention has been given to the profound anguish endured by women left without husbands, fathers or sons. The poems "Alive," "Waiting," “To Hawa,” and "But Then Their Eyes Retained Everything" venture to unveil novel perspectives on the vast expanse of war, violence, trauma, and healing. They explore the impact of Saddam Hussein’s genocide on women during and after the war, its impact on subsequent generations, and the reflections of women on the implications of the Al-Anfal campaign, which spanned from 1986 to 1989. Similarly, the poem "Her Tongue Refuses to Recall," …

Al Jinan الجنان
This is an extensive study of the book of Poetry and Poets by Ibn Qutaybah. The study provides an analysis of the traditional poetry critique presented in the book, highlighting the position of the given book’s criticism from the current scientific rubrics and its compatibility with the general taste of the fine-art discipline. The proposed study adopted descriptive and analytical approaches. The book under examination is considered one of the first sources of poets and poetry, including the biography of well-known poets with a representative selection from their poetry. The author elaborated on and compared between different selections of poets …
Tardiyat Abu Nawas Aspects Of Renewal In Abu Nawas’ Poems (Tardiyat), Farah Jam, Hachem Ayoubi
Tardiyat Abu Nawas Aspects Of Renewal In Abu Nawas’ Poems (Tardiyat), Farah Jam, Hachem Ayoubi
Al Jinan الجنان
Al Taradiyat is one of the oldest poetry. It was known by Arab people since Jahili Time and at its peak was in Abbassi time. Abu Nawas was the foremost representative of it. He created new forms. His style was far from the old poetic purposes and he used metaphors and imaginary similes derived from the luxurious life of that time. In addition to that he adopted strange words that dealt with traits of predators and describing them carefully and meticulously. Moreover it highlighted that kind of old poetry since poetry and literature are an extension of the past and …
Arts & Literature: A Review Of The Poetry Book Unburied-Unmarked—The Untold Namibian Story Of The Genocide Of 1904–1908: Pieces And Pains Of The Struggle For Justice, Elise Pape
Genocide Studies and Prevention: An International Journal
Between 1904 and 1908, about eighty per cent of the Herero and fifty per cent of the Nama perished in what is today known as the first genocide of the twentieth century that took place in today’s Namibia under German colonial rule. Over decades, the German government has not officially recognized the genocide as such. Jephta U. Nguherimo is one of the descendants of survivors of this genocide and today lives in the United States. In his poetry book unBuried-unMarked–The unTold Namibian story of the Genocide of 1904-1908: Pieces and Pains of the Struggle for Justice that he has self-published …

De La Esclavitud A La Libertad: La Historia De Una Esclava Afromexicana, Margaree G. Jackson
Vernacular: New Connections in Language, Literature, & Culture

Poetry of Roe 8
The occasion for the writing of these poems was activism surrounding the controversial highway known as the Roe 8 extension in the areas of Cockburn and Fremantle in Western Australia. Planned in the 1950s, Roe 8 is contentious for a number of reasons, including extraordinary political deals over funding, undue process regarding environmental reporting, lack of a business case, inadequate noise and traffic modelling, erasure of Indigenous heritage sites, and clearing of the sensitive Beeliar wetlands and Coolbellup banksia woodlands which were designated a Threatened Ecological Community in 2016. During the summer of 2016/2017 contractors started …

Mistreated & Misremembered: A Tale Of Two Annes, Elizabeth H. Dunn
Steeplechase: An ORCA Student Journal
The two poems and historical notes that I worked on were a part of my interest in both history and poetry, especially since many historical figures remain misunderstood, ignored, or misinterpreted. Throughout my research I tried to find a personal voice for all of the subjects within the poems, Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, and Anne of Cleves. Though the poetic form gave me creative freedom, I did want to approach each name as more than just a reputation, but as a person. In my view, Henry VIII's notorious reputation and infamy still reigns today because of his many wives and …
