Graduate Student Theses, Dissertations, & Professional Papers
I left this morning for Portland, Oregon—could be for good. Told my dear mother I was taking a day trip then hopped in her dinged up black Audi and felt the thing hum alive beneath me. Her speakers were still good, so I threw on a playlist with Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie and all of the ragged traintrack prophets and went roaring out of those gilded hills for hopefully ever. There was no traffic getting to Sacramento; it took me just twenty minutes to hit the I-5 North juncture and after that I went peeling up the central flatlands …

I present this statement under three loose categories: People, Objects and their Environment. I consider People as human, Objects as art objects, domestic objects, and food, and Environment as the shared space of the former groups. Food directs this statement as I present each concept and creative process as a metaphorical dish. Material exploration carried me from a direct practice of reorienting acrylic paint and questioning object functionality through personified sculptures into theoretical thesis work in which I use interpersonal relations and the idea of consumption to translate tactile, gustatory and olfactory sensations into digital film. In this meal I …

The Roxy Letters is a comedic written in letters from Roxy—an undersexed, underemployed, well-educated, and verbose twenty-something working at the deli of the flagship Whole Foods in Austin, TX—to her ex-boyfriend Everett who is living with her, but is failing to pay rent while succeeding in totally ruining her mojo!
As Roxy struggles to raise herself from her artistic, romantic, and employment slumps, she finds a new best friend in Artemis, who is a burlesque dancing, girl goddess, and huntress of men. Roxy battles with the meth heads who live next door; reluctantly tries out a sex cult focused on …

The Consequences Of Failing: A Memoir, Olivia M. Zajac
The Consequences Of Failing: A Memoir, Olivia M. Zajac
All College Thesis Program, 2016-2019
Failing is part of our human nature. I have never met a person who has never failed at something. Sometimes when I look back at my failures I feel like crying, and other times I laugh at the mistakes that I have made. But no matter the type of failure I have suffered, I have learned one thing. Failures, along with successes, have shaped me into the person I am today. When I fail, I often fall. But each fall is a chance for me to get back up. I don’t plan to stop failing any time soon.
Just like …

Creative Writing Minor Portfolios
This is a collection of poetry and nonfiction pieces that I have written while I attended Cedarville University for four years. Each piece of writing originated from my musings and experiences during my college career. I write humor pieces not only to poke fun at things, but also to help understand the world around me and the experiences I have. In no way, do I ever want to think that I have made it as a writer, but that I am always in progress of becoming a better writer and working on my craft. The nonfiction short “Heart” has been …

A Former Liar Armed With Truth And Aiming For Greatness, Jonathan Gallardo
Creative Writing Minor Portfolios
This portfolio is a collection of my favorite works of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry that I wrote during my final four semesters at Cedarville University. “Cicadas at Lorelei” has been accepted for publication in The Merrimack Review, and “I Don’t Share My Grandfather’s Love for Mathematics” has been accepted for publication in *82 Review. This collection deals with my discovering the truth about Jonathan Gallardo and using that truth to create art. I present to you A Former Liar Armed with Truth and Aiming for Greatness.
Heroes, Past And Future, Benjamin Green
Heroes, Past And Future, Benjamin Green
Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects
A creative work set in a small town in which everyone has a supernatural ability called a "Gift." This work shows the characters, all on different walks of life, as they show that the metaphorical fish cannot outgrow the fish bowl. Those who have lived in this town all their lives seem to have weaker Gifts than those who have lived even one hour away. Heroes, Past and Future explores how one cannot hope to meet their true potential as a person except by allowing themselves to move even slightly away from the familiar.

One of the ,devices most commonly used by universities to overawe incoming freshmen and to make them conscious of the tremendous amount of knowledge connected with the institution, is the college aptitude test. The test, presumably, is to serve as a key to the student's ability along various lines. How this purpose is served remains a mystery to the poor subject. The average college freshman cannot see how such a garbled mass of nothing can lead his instructors to a better understanding of his educational needs.

He walked into the room, hung his umbrella on the thermometer (on sunny days he used the umbrella as a walking stick) and turned methodically to the speaking stand. Then it came-laughter! laughter! The professor filed through his mind to determine if he "cracked" any of his jokes at the last meeting of the class. No, the last meeting was Thursday, second Thursday of the month. He always pulled his jokes on Tuesdays. Maybe it was the blackboard. Someone had written something on the blackboard, - something funny, maybe even about him. He turned to look at the board, but …
