This thesis supports the Master of Fine Arts exhibition at the Reece Museum at East Tennessee State University from April 28-June 25, 2009. The exhibition is comprised of 19 monotype prints on paper. The exhibition presents the artist's investigation using natural materials combined with traditional printmaking techniques. Subjects discussed include ideas, methods, influences, and process of integrating natural materials that evoke a sense of place, earth, and memory.

The artist discusses her Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition, Thou Art That, held in Slocumb Galleries, East Tennessee State University, from November 3-7, 2008. The exhibit consists of self-portraits in oil on stretched canvas painted between May and October 2008.

Ideas explored include the creative power of limitation, metaphor, divinity, relationship, human development, life experience, and the bond between mother and child. Influences discussed include the written works and ideas of Joseph Campbell and Joseph Chilton Pearce, as well as the ideas of artist Judy Chicago, art critic Suzi Gablik, and the artwork of Gerhard Richter.

This thesis supports the Master of Fine Arts exhibition at the Slocumb Galleries in Ball Hall at East Tennessee State University, from February 23rd through February 27th 2009. The exhibition is comprised of eight graphite drawings, one ink drawing, eight vinyl prints, two hundred sixty lenticular prints, over fifty digital inkjet prints, and one video installation. This thesis supports the Master of Fine Arts exhibition at the Tipton Gallery, East Tennessee State University, from March 23rd through April 3rd, 2009. To comment on the title of my thesis, it describes an invented process created to re-contextualize failed paintings into works that critically comment on the discipline of painting itself. The paper describes and analyzes the conceptual moves created by a refusal to be satisfied with predictable outcomes in my work.
