The STEAM Journal

The artist references images captured by electron microscope photography of Dopamine, DNA, and the process of Mitosis (specifically occurring in the human body). Through the use of photoshop the artist was able to manipulate the images of Dopamine, DNA, and Mitosis to create low polygonal artwork. The artist created 15,000-30,000 individual triangles, piecing them together using photoshop to create the images that they were referencing. The body is an amazing spectacle rarely looked at from within by artists. Many find beauty on the surface of the body, but when explored further, the body has much more to offer. The artist …

Graphic Communication

Typography is an essential component of Graphic Communication. The purpose of this study was to bridge typography with hip-hop art. To bridge the two disciplines, hip-hop art was presented in the context that it is actually practiced by these artists. The use of a questionnaire and a drawing lesson was intended to bring the subject within its true context. Presenting the art form in its true context enabled participants involved in the study to understand the art form with the perspective that the discipline, like typography, involves the use of lettering. Mapped: Intersections of Cartography and Painting explores the role of representation in art and how we, as people, communicate through visual language. More fundamentally, my paintings ask at what point does an abstract painting become a map, and what structures and conventions do we use in cartography that appear in abstract painting?
