Six Leadership Lessons From Photography, Brenda L. Boyd
Six Leadership Lessons From Photography, Brenda L. Boyd
Brenda Boyd, PhD
"I learned that the photographers who captured unforgettable images all had some things in common: they seemed to know themselves and people; they had vision, passion, and timing; they had an innate ability to communicate effectively; they took risks; and they learned from their mistakes. I also came to realize that as a result of their unique presence—and often their sacrifice—they made a significant and lasting contribution to our world."

Presentation on 3D printing and related technologies made at The College at Brockport's Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT). Provides a broad overview of 3D technologies and applications, describes implementation and initial reception of 3D printing in The College's Drake Memorial Library as well as programs at Cornell University and SUNY New Paltz. Reviews potential applications of these technologies in the teaching/learning environment and expansion to a yearlong Faculty Learning Community focus and/or a campus makerspace.
Responsive Web Design For Libraries: Beyond The Mobile Web, Matthew Reidsma
Responsive Web Design For Libraries: Beyond The Mobile Web, Matthew Reidsma
Matthew Reidsma
A responsive website adapts to each users' device, changing its presentation through fluid grids, scalable images, and CSS3 media queries. I give an introduction to responsive design, and then walk through converting the Grand Valley State University Libraries website to be responsive, so that looks great on every device and eliminates the need to maintain separate websites for "desktop" and "mobile" devices, while offering equal access to all.

Can There Be A Critical Collaborative Ethnography?, Rachel Breunlin, Helen A. Regis
Rachel Breunlin
In this article we wrote for Collaborative Anthropologies, Helen and I use a case study of a participatory poster project to explore the intersections of "community art" and collaborative ethnography, and to consider how to engage in critical issues of race, class, and culture while working with a diverse group of artists and community activists in New Orleans.
