La presente propuesta muestra la vigencia del tejido tradicional de textiles en zonas cercanas y en las ciudades de La Paz y El Alto. La información fue obtenida de tejedores que habitan en la ciudad – área rural y frecuentan la ciudad por motivos de cargos comunales o comercio de tejidos como medio de subsistencia. I craft functional pottery that is richly decorated with layers of abstracted botanical imagery. While working within the parameters of function, I explore the possibilities for expressing and evoking beauty through altered porcelain forms and lush surfaces. As a potter, I create forms that inspire curiosity and interaction through a balance of originality and suggested function. I connect myself to others through the intermediary of the vessel, conveying my reverence for plants, nourishment and beauty. My creative project explores toys as means to express economic issues of globalization. By exploiting the educational and imaginative aspects of toys for adults and children, I intend to reflect on the impact and pressures of globalization on employment, technology and environment. In creating these toys I hope to make a visual statement concerning critical issues of human survival, sustainability and the divisive side of globalization.
