Pyramide: The Changing Power Structure Of Fashion, Ariana Callan
Scripps Senior Theses
This project examines the changing world of fashion in an interactive digital magazine format. In the past few years, fashion has increasingly been democratizing, as new designers and forms of media increasingly gain influence. Ready-to-wear designers are working with lower-end brands through collaborations, redefining what each brand is supposed to do, while blogging is allowing those whose voices are usually unheard to openly critique and influence fashion. Overall, they are creating a more democratized space, challenging what was once normal in the fashion industry.

While participating in a Teacher Workshop organized by Georgina Valverde at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013, Michael Hill began a one-year artistic and pedagogical odyssey making original images (always featuring some aspect of one or more athletic shoes) and posting them daily to a visual blog he created to help kick-start writing projects among the many student athletes he tutored at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He started the year self-identifying as “scholar/teacher,” but at year’s end Michael looked in the mirror and said, OK, still “scholar/ teacher,” but also “artist.” Here are the workshop organizer’s foreword, the scholar’s …

Discover Joyce's Dublin By Reading And Running, Barry Sheehan
Academic Articles
James Joyce told his friend Frank Budgen. “‘I want’ said Joyce, as we were walking down the Universitätstrasse, ‘to give a picture of Dublin so complete that if the city one day suddenly disappeared from the earth it could be reconstructed out of my book.’” (Budgen, 1960, p.67, 68).
This research looks at the relevance of Dublin to Joyce’s writings and to the relevance of Joyce’s writings to Dublin. It is concerned with the virtual Dublin of Joyce’s writings, the physical manifestation of Dublin over time, and the relationships between them.
Numerous scholars read and analyse the writings of Joyce …

Journalism
This study analyzes the platform of blogging and how it can be used as a public relations tool to create relatability and accessibility in the fashion industry, an industry that has notoriously been exclusive to the public. The rise of social media has given audiences a “behind-the-scenes” look into the fashion industry and has provided a voice to the industry. Audiences no longer just view the fashion industry as an exclusive club that no one can join: it has become an industry that anyone with a blogging platform and a smart phone can participate in. As personal style bloggers become …
