Lo Peor De Ambos Mundos: Dos Entremeses Americanos De Luis Quiñones De Benavente Y Vicente Suárez De Deza, Héctor Brioso Santos
Lo Peor De Ambos Mundos: Dos Entremeses Americanos De Luis Quiñones De Benavente Y Vicente Suárez De Deza, Héctor Brioso Santos
Teatro: Revista de Estudios Escénicos / A Journal of Theater Studies
Andanzas Americanas De Pedro Ordóñez De Ceballos En Dos Comedias Del Siglo De Oro, Miguel Zugasti
Andanzas Americanas De Pedro Ordóñez De Ceballos En Dos Comedias Del Siglo De Oro, Miguel Zugasti
Teatro: Revista de Estudios Escénicos / A Journal of Theater Studies

A Plea For Caution: A Response To Frederick Burkhardt, Phillip R. Sloan
A Plea For Caution: A Response To Frederick Burkhardt, Phillip R. Sloan
Documentary Editing: Journal of the Association for Documentary Editing (1979-2011)
Professor Burkhardt's detailed and exhaustive analysis of this curious letter has provided a classic case of the kind of problems one might face in textual editing. My own interest in this letter was first generated during my editing of the Hunterian lectures of Darwin's contemporary, Richard Owen. It also relates to my long-term interest in the importance of Darwin's work on invertebrate organisms and its relevance to the origins of his evolutionary theory. This work commenced during his early years in Edinburgh and persisted through the Beagle years and even beyond into his eight years of study of the barnacles. …
November Meeting Of The Nhprc
Documentary Editing: Journal of the Association for Documentary Editing (1979-2011)
At its meeting on November 13 and 14, held at the United States Supreme Court, the National Historical Publications and Records Commission passed a resolution adopting criteria for evaluating second-tier documentary editing projects.
A Glimpse Into Childhood: Review Of Susan Paul, The Memoir Of James Jackson, The Attentive And Obedient Scholar, Who Died In Boston, October 31, 1833, Aged Six Years And Eleven Months, Ed. Lois Brown., Constance B. Schulz
Documentary Editing: Journal of the Association for Documentary Editing (1979-2011)
Sources by or about the lives of young children are not widely or easily available; sources offering a glimpse into the life a young African American child are particularly scarce. For that reason alone, Lois Brown's rediscovery of this long-neglected Memoir and Harvard University Press's decision to publish it in a serious scholarly edition (in paper as well as cloth) is an important contribution to the literature. Brown describes the Memoir, originally published in Boston in 1835 by the white antislavery activist bookseller and printer James Loring, as a combination of "two distinctive nineteenth- century literary forms, the didactic spiritual …
A Letter To John W. Carlin
Documentary Editing: Journal of the Association for Documentary Editing (1979-2011)
At the end of October, the ADE Council learned that the agenda for the November 13 meeting of Commissioners of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission would include a plan for ranking ongoing NHPRC-funded editorial projects with an eye for possible curtailment of funds. Such a plan would have gone into effect only in case of financial emergency, and it would have applied only to the "second tier" of projects whose grant applications are considered in the spring, not the "first tier" Founding Fathers editions. Even so, the Council felt it wise to put the Association for Documentary Editing …

El Diablo Y La Idolatría En La Comedia Del Nuevo Mundo, David Mcgrath
El Diablo Y La Idolatría En La Comedia Del Nuevo Mundo, David Mcgrath
Teatro: Revista de Estudios Escénicos / A Journal of Theater Studies

Review Of: Gramática Para La Composición, Joan M. Hoffman
Modern & Classical Languages
Gramdtica para la composicidn reflects the understanding that written communication is more than a final product to be completed and forgotten. It is, instead, a process involving prewriting, composition and revision that must have a sound basis in grammatical knowledge and practice. The text is meant for students progressing from the intermediate to the advanced ACTFL proficiency levels in Spanish.
Review Of: Conversational Strategies In Akan: Prosodic Features And Discourse Categories, Edward J. Vajda
Review Of: Conversational Strategies In Akan: Prosodic Features And Discourse Categories, Edward J. Vajda
Modern & Classical Languages
The existing literature on conversation analysis (CA) has largely ignored the prosodic features that characterize spontaneous dialog, focusing instead on 'spoken prose, "invented" discourse, or written text'. This study is valuable both for the typological perspective its subject language brings to the study of CA, as well as for its innovative examination of a maximally wide range of prosodic features used in natural conversation-features that have all too often been ignored even in more intensively studied languages.

Review Of: Spanish Grammar And Spanish Reading Comprehension Cd Roms, Shaw N. Gynan
Modern & Classical Languages
Spanish Grammar and Spanish Reading Comprehension were tested on a Macintosh G4 400 MHz, 1024 x 768 display, 128 MB RAM, Apple CD/DVD. Both programs are designed for use by high school, college, and adult education students. Installation on the Mac is a very simple matter of inserting the disk and double-clicking on the icon that appears, which invokes the program. The screen goes black, meaning that the main Apple navigation bar is no longer available, and a window appears in the upper left hand corner of the screen displaying a menu with two options, Spanish Grammar and Comprehensive Spanish …

Moving Beyond The Written Comment: Narrowing The Gap Between Response Practice And Research, Jane Fife, Peggy O'Neill
Moving Beyond The Written Comment: Narrowing The Gap Between Response Practice And Research, Jane Fife, Peggy O'Neill
English Faculty Publications
While our field’s response practices have changed dramatically over the past two decades to involve more student comments on their own texts, empirical studies have lagged far behind classroom practices, focusing almost exclusively on teachers’ written comments as texts. By broadening our notion of response—and acknowledging the many and varied ways that teachers respond to student writing as well as the many and varied ways that students influence and interpret those responses—we will be able to narrow the gap between our teaching practices and our research questions.
