Through art and literature, we are able to create our own of narratives of any cultural experience. In this scenario, the African American experience can be exemplified through methods of reiterating or recreating. Artists can choose to reiterate or repeat a narrative that meets the status quo of stereotypes that have already been established through social, civil, economic traditions of teaching, or an artist can recreate and bring light to a new aspect to the complexity of the humanisation and emotional journeys of Black people.

Rural heritage represents the foundation of our past, which includes material and immaterial heritage. By studying rural heritage, we could better understand the past and integrate it into sustainable development of modern communities.

My presentation will be focussed on the example of villages with fortified churches from Transylvania, which are the most representative rural heritage of Romania, and includes series of villages, but just seven of them were inscribed in the World Heritage List – Prejmier-Tartlau, Biertan, Valea Viilor, Calnic, Saschiz-Keisd, Darju, and Viscri. I will discuss the role and impact of public participation in various preservation and development projects. …

Being the most sensitive person in my family was always a problem. My parents would constantly tell me I was exaggerating largely and making issues worse than they were, and I took this as a criticism every single time it was said. At 12 years old, I began to learn why they always told me not to exaggerate a circumstance. My grandmother was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, but nobody told me she was battling cancer until after her major surgery. National Youth Advocacy and Resilience Conference

Participants in this workshop will engage in ensemble building drama activities. These activities will lead to the creation of multiple pieces of drama. The participants will also develop a list of interview questions they can use if they choose to implement the project at their schools or organizations. Many of the activities are from Augusto Boal’s “Theatre of the Oppressed,” a genre of theatre born out of the necessities of people who experience oppression. It provides them tools to explore the oppression and ways to face it in the real world.

It is clear that issues involving race have plagued the growth of the United States since the early stages of the land's development. However, through Wallace Thurman's novel The Blacker the Berry, he is able to illustrate the struggles of racism within the African American society, having detrimental effects on the psychological aspect of racism as well. My paper focuses on the main character, Emma Lou, who faces both public and personal racism throughout her upbringing.
