The purpose of this master’s project thesis is to explore and implement the necessary professional museum practices to care for and preserve the private Vietnam War-era slide collection of Kenneth L. Swain Jr., an Air Force veteran. Through museum practices presented by leading museum professionals, the slide collection was examined and a plan implemented for slide care and maintenance. In conjunction with the preservation of this slide collection, an exhibition was curated in honor of Swain’s unique photo-documentary slide collection.

This student-run weekly newspaper was known simply as R.I.S.D., or RISD Paper. The RISD Paper ran through the late 1960s and into the 1970s. The issue of November 24, 1969 included an article about the RISD presidential inauguration. Also there were articles about a meeting for ecology action in Rhode Island, an temporary emergency shelter at the RISD farm, and space concerns on campus. A recipe, art exhibitions and a calendar of events for RISD students was also included.

Blockprint was a student magazine published throughout the 1960s. This issue of April 15, 1968 covers the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., including editorials concerning the event, as well as more local news related to the school. Also included is a double page spread of photographs from the school's COLAB program of the year.
