[Excerpt] “As the Supreme Court recently confirmed in Quanta Computer, Inc. v. LG Electronics, Inc., patent and copyright owners have limited rights following voluntary transfers of protected goods. Moreover, as discussed at length by the Second Circuit in Platt & Munk Co. v. Republic Graphics, Inc., patent owners‟ rights have long been similarly affected by involuntary transfers. Platt & Munk finds the lack of equivalent copyright rulings remarkable, but does not allow lack of direct precedent to stand in the way of finding that involuntary transferees of copyright-protected goods have the same rights as voluntary transferees.

This study aims to define the logic of the multi-use of public open spaces in Chiang MaiCity by taking into account people, time and activity diversity. The study hypothesizesthat the multi-use of public open spaces is influenced by three significant factors, namelyspecific characteristics of space, urban morphological structure, and users.The research methodology consists of surveying forty-two public open spaces in Chiang MaiCity. This research analyzes the urban expansion of Nakhonrachasima City, the regional centerof Northeastern Thailand, in terms of water demand and water usage in the Lam TaKong Watershed. Lam Ta Kong Watershed has had a severe water shortage problem for a longtime. Nakhonrachasima City is a small city with 172,387 persons. The results show that theurbanization effect on changing land use rapidly and increases water consumption. The trendof the water consumption rate in Nakhonrachasima increases at a high rate. Train Stations: Iconography, Wayfinding, And The Evolution Of A Type, Tricia Reed Quinn

The first train stations were built more than 150 years ago. Their floor plans both developed from and were informed by circulation requirements arising from the need to move passengers and trains safely and efficiently. While the prominent route of movement through stations was largely determined by their layout, certain architectural elements appeared in many stations regardless of their plans. Many of these features first appeared in response to functional needs but later acquired symbolic significance, transforming them into railway iconography. The article presents an outline for beginning the process of building new library for the community based on planning principles that will lead to a well-documented and articulated plan for the future. The development of a comprehensive strategic plan of library service is the first step a library system should take. The Public Library Association (PLA) "New Planning for Results," which has been used successfully by many libraries in the U.S. is one example of a successful planning model. The final step in the process is writing a building program.

Spotlight On Construction: St. Simons' Library Welcomed 70th Anniversary In New Facility

The article announces the grand opening event of the St. Simons Public Library in Georgia in January 2007. The library also celebrated its 70th anniversary on March 16. According to Libby Hogan, chair of the library's board of directors, they have 1,200 extra square feet of space in the renovated building. St. Simons joined the Three Rivers Public Library System (TRRLS) and PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services), bringing its patrons access to more than 8.5 million items owned by other PINES member libraries. The library currently has approximately 35,000 volumes, according to manager Maureen Hersey.

The article announces that the Spout Springs Branch of the Hall County Library System in Georgia is tentatively scheduled to open in late spring 2008. The budget for the project will total approximately $6 million and will be located in Flowery Branch at the corner of Spout Springs Road and Lake Sterling Boulevard. Pope Partners of Roswell is the architectural firm for the project. Scroggs and Grizzel Contracting Inc. of Gainesville managed the construction. Some special highlights of the facility include a large computer lab and a dedicated storytime room.

The article reports on the expansion of the Chickamauga Public Library, a branch of the Cherokee Regional Library System in Georgia. It has experienced such growth in programming and book collections that an expansion was greatly needed. The city of Chickamauga, upon the recommendation of John Culpepper, city utilities manager, allocated $100,000 of local special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) funds for the expansion and redesign of the library. Library manager Bobbie Abernathy lobbied to bring about public awareness of the expansion need and to secure local and state funding.

The article reports on the construction of Georgia Gwinnett College's (GGC) academic library. The current library space is housed on two open floors within the Signature Building. A new, stand-alone building will be needed to meet all of the needs of the new college. GGC established the Library Planning Group in 2006. The goal of the project is that the library will become a learning center for the entire college community.

The article unveils the expansion and renovation of Forsyth County Public Library in Georgia. A 15,000-square-foot Administrative Office facility was added to the Cumming Library building which provide space for headquarters staff. The new design scheme features mahogany furnishings, traditionally styled, such as end panels and the circulation desk. The children's area doubled in size and large murals were painted on two walls. The biggest challenge of the renovation was moving the collection and shelving to lay new carpet.
