Rorschach Erlebnistypus And Problem-Solving Styles In Children, Daniel R. Orme
Rorschach Erlebnistypus And Problem-Solving Styles In Children, Daniel R. Orme
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This study was designed to determine whether children who, on the basis of their Rorschach Erlebnistypus score, were identified as being introversive or extratensive differed with respect to their approaches to certain novel problem-solving tasks. It was thought that the extratensives would characteristically manipulate the task materials more and make more mistakes than would the introversives, owing to the notion that the introversives internalize more of their manipulations and attempted solutions. Sixty-nine sixth and seventh graders at a university-run laboratory school were administered the Rorschach. From that number fifteen introversive and fifteen extratensive children were identified who were also given …
The Decline Of Log House Construction In Blount County, Tennessee, John T. Morgan
The Decline Of Log House Construction In Blount County, Tennessee, John T. Morgan
Doctoral Dissertations
The log house is an important element of architectural heritage of much of the eastern United States. In some areas, such as East Tennessee, log construction was not replaced by frame construction until the late nineteenth century.
Several reasons have been presented in the literature for the decline of log house construction, but none of them had been tested empirically. This study determined to what extent the reasons given for the decline of the log house construction explain the decline of log dwelling construction in Blount County, Tennessee. The study analyzed the influence of five factors: (1) relative affluence of …
The Engineering Geology Of The Fountain Landslide, Hood River County, Oregon, Susanne L. D'Agnese
The Engineering Geology Of The Fountain Landslide, Hood River County, Oregon, Susanne L. D'Agnese
Dissertations and Theses
The Fountain Landslide located along I-84, five kilometers east of Cascade Locks, Oregon has moved periodically for over thirty years. Aerial photographs taken prior to recorded movement of the landslide show the headscarp of a large preexisting landslide. In 1952 a cut was made into the toe of the landslide to straighten Highway 30. The recorded movement history begins at this time. Stabilization procedures in the late 1950's focused on dewatering the slide mass. Movement had nearly stopped by 1957. A deeper cut was made into the toe of the landslide in 1966 to widen the highway to the four-laned …
Land Use Controls As An Influence On Surface Water Quality In Cache County, Utah, Jerry E. Sempek
Land Use Controls As An Influence On Surface Water Quality In Cache County, Utah, Jerry E. Sempek
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
The purpose of this thesis is to identify land use planning strategies which are most appropriate for the mitigation of nonpoint surface water pollution problems in Cache County, Utah. This work expands on an initial planning effort by the County intended to address these pollution problems. Unfortunately, that effort resulted in the adoption of an ordinance which falls short of ensuring surface water protection.
Planning strategies designed to protect wetlands and provide water resource protection have been proposed and implemented in other regions of the United States. A sample of these programs was selected and their similarities and differences were …
Computer Simulations Of Biological Growth Patterns: Tree Modeling Success And Applications, Robert L. Nagel Jr.
Computer Simulations Of Biological Growth Patterns: Tree Modeling Success And Applications, Robert L. Nagel Jr.
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
The purpose of this investigation was to explore the depiction of trees in three dimensions on a microcomputer. While the use of computer-aided design in landscape architecture is increasing, imagery for plant materials is found to be at a more or less symbolic level. The literature concerning previous inquiries into the mechanisms of tree growth and differentiation provide a good deal of information ranging from physiological basics to sophisticated structural and mathematical growth models. This forms the basis from which programming work proceeded.
In this context, the body of work reported here emphasizes the development of a programming methodology for …
Retreat, David Anthony Hill
Retreat, David Anthony Hill
All Theses
Over one million copies have been sold of the self-help and awareness books Looking Out For Number One and Pulling Your Own Strings. Last year, 2.5 million people voluntarily underwent psychoanalysis for anxiety disorders. In the last thirty years, hundreds of religions have formed in the United States alone.
This is the problem, and the concern of this thesis, that modern man is desperately searching many possibilities for a renewal of contact with his self, with meaning in his life. So this study will concentrate on the architectural design of still another potential avenue in this search; the retreat, the …
City Hall Square, Waco, Texas, Paul Weathers
City Hall Square, Waco, Texas, Paul Weathers
Landscape Architecture Masters & Design Theses
A Town Square has existed in Waco since the city was established in 1850. The history of the square in Waco is similar to the development of other cities and open spaces in the nineteenth century American west. In attempting to create a Square for Waco certain issues are addressed concerning the application of appropriate urban forms to a site which has drastically changes in the last twenty years. Urban renewal razed many of the structures which defined the urban fabric. Newer structures were erected on the open site which had no relation to the historical and physical context of …
