As a part of CRP 463 led by Dr. William Riggs, this report provided an analysis of the bicycle, pedestrian and transit travel in the City of Paso Robles and produced a draft Active Transportation Plan for the City.

Completed as a part of CRP 425 bicycle and pedestrian planning, led by Dr. William Riggs, this planning project assessed the Herbert Hoover Elementary site and Charleston corridor in the City of Palo Alto with an aim to bring a complete streets strategy to the area. The plans recommend improved accessibility for bicycles and pedestrians along Charleston Road including modal separation between bicyclists and pedestians, improved vehicular flows to mitigate vehicular traffic congestion during peak hours and increased innovation in safety features to prevent pedestrian-vehicle conflicts.

This study outlines work completed as a part of the CRP 463 senior capstone class outlining a new, comprehensive approach to active transportation on the Cal Poly campus. Led by Dr. William Riggs the project assessed the current conditions, identified opportunities and constraints and then developed conceptual options for a campus active transportation plan. In addition to this process the plan involved completion of a draft Bicycle Friendly University application for the Cal Poly campus (included as a supplemental file) and envisioned conceptual design options for various locations on the campus. The Cal Poly Climate Action Plan (PolyCAP) is designed to achieve the California State University (CSU) Chancellor’s mandate to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 and 80% below 1990 levels by 2040 (CSU, 2014). California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) Facility Management and Development (FM&D) and the City and Regional Planning (CRP) Senior Community Planning Laboratory developed the PolyCAP during the Fall 2015 and Winter 2016 quarters, with editing and refinement in subsequent quarters. Completed by Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo City & Regional Planning students enrolled in a bicycle and pedestrian planning course (CRP 425), under the direction of Dr. William Riggs this report was designed to gather data in advance of the City of San Luis Obispo's application to be a Bicycle Friendly Community. This report resulted from the work developed by an undergraduate class from the California State University San Luis Obispo from September 22, 2014 to December 5, 2014. Under a contract with the City of Wasco’s Planning Department, the CRP 341 Urban Design Studio III studio developed a vision and urban design concepts for the Highway 46 Corridor in Wasco.
